Job summary

Grupo Pesado Castro is seeking an IT Applications Leader in Apodaca, Nuevo León. You will guide IT strategy, supervise regional information system projects, and ensure compliance with quality, security, and regulatory standards across manufacturing, HR, and finance applications.

The role requires leading MES and AS/400-based systems, coordinating with regional teams, and driving optimization of cross-functional application usage to support the company’s global strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
• 5–7 years of IT leadership or managerial experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Spanish.
• Automotive industry experience preferred.
• Multi-site experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) stability and data collection across regional plants.
• Maintain support for IBM i (AS/400) applications focused on production and inventory management.
• Ensure data integrity between shop floor operations and corporate applications.
• Provide functional support for Payroll and HRMS systems within Mexican labor law.
• Lead finance, procurement, and ERP-related application supports and reporting.
• Oversee foreign trade systems to ensure compliance and cross-border logistics.
• Coordinate with NA IT leaders to align regional roadmaps with Global Strategy MAP.
• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 27001/ISO 9001 certifications.

The IT Applications Leader supports the IT Manager for definition of strategies and supervises information system projects, ensuring that business applications (Manufacturing, HR, Finance, etc.) comply with company quality, security, and international regulatory standards. This role is responsible for consolidating technological information to propose improvements in application services across the regional organization.

Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
• At least 5 to 7 years of experience as IT Leader, manager or similar.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong oral presentation skills (English and Spanish)
• Automotive Industry experience
• Multi-site experience is preferred

Responsibilities

Manufacturing and Operational Systems Oversight

• MES and Data Collection: Ensure the stability and performance of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and real-time data collection tools across the 4 regional plants.
• Midrange Systems (AS/400): Oversee the support and continuity of mission-critical applications hosted on the IBM i (AS/400) platform, focusing on production and inventory management.
• Data Integrity: Guarantee the accuracy of information flowing between shop floor operations and corporate applications

Business and Administrative Applications

• Human Capital and Payroll: Manage the functional support for Payroll and HRMS systems, ensuring compliance with Mexican labor laws and internal corporate policies.
• Finance and Procurement: Lead the support for applications governing the procurement cycle, ERP modules, and financial reporting.
• Import / Export: Supervise specialized systems for foreign trade to ensure aduana compliance and seamless cross-border logistics.
• Strategic Liaison and Compliance
• Regional Optimization: Analyze regional application usage to propose "total optimization" rather than individual plant solutions.
• Corporate Liaison: Coordinate with North American (NA) IT leaders to align regional application roadmaps with the Global Strategy MAP.
• Standards Compliance: Ensure all application planning and operations support IATF 16949 quality standards and ISO 27001 / ISO 9001 certifications.

Knowledge required

• Project Management: Expert capability in managing the full lifecycle of software implementation and digital transformation.
• Information Security: Expert knowledge of cybersecurity regulations and data protection within business applications.
• Systems Architecture: Advanced understanding of how software applications integrate with network hardware and server infrastructure.
• Manufacturing Tech: Proficiency in data collection technologies, including barcoding and shop-floor interface tools
• Proactively research best practices and propose new ways to improve the current application landscape to meet future business challenges.
• Develop robust processes to prevent system issues and effectively negotiate agreements with stakeholders inside and outside the department.
• Influence the organization by acting as a leader and developing team members through goal setting and feedback.
