Descripción del empleo

Mill is all about answering a simple question: how can we prevent waste? Less waste can save time, money, energy, maybe even our planet. And there’s no better place to start than food. Food waste is one of the most solvable climate problems facing us today. Plus, our trash really stinks. It’s gross, heavy, and our least favorite chore. At Mill we are striving to build a better environment for all, as we take on climate and kitchen change.

As the Inventory Accountant you’ll…

  • Be the first Inventory Accountant hired to the team, and help establish foundational internal processes.
  • Complete operational accounting and reporting, including detailed analysis, reconciliation, and reporting of accounts.
  • Own the accounting and reconciliation of inventory movements, including receipts, production consumption, transfers, returns, scrap, inventory adjustments, and cycle count variances.
  • Partner directly with Contract Manufacturers and suppliers to investigate inventory discrepancies, validate transactions, and ensure alignment between physical inventory and ERP records.
  • Review and support landed cost accounting.
  • Track and reconcile inventory balances by part / SKU on a monthly basis.
  • Support inventory accuracy and reporting initiatives through regular reconciliation of raw materials, components, subassemblies, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods.
  • Collaborate with the Controller and Operations teams to improve efficiency of internal processes.
  • Establish monthly unit economics analysis, including P&L impact of different components of unit economics.
  • Assist with forecasting of unit economics changes, translating these changes to financial impact.
  • Working with the Controller and Operations, enhancement or creation of internal controls around manufacturing, fulfillment, and deployment.
  • Assist with financial statement audits.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Ideally you’ll have…

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance or accounting, or related majors including business.
  • 4+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, inventory control, and previous experience with month-end close.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience managing physical inventory transactions involving raw materials, purchased components, subassemblies, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods.
  • Professional working level English (B2 or higher.)
  • Experience working with Contract Manufacturers is strongly preferred.
  • ERP experience required (NetSuite preferred). Strong knowledge of manufacturing inventory transactions is more important than experience with a specific ERP platform.
  • Experience reconciling inventory records between internal ERP systems and third-party manufacturers.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing inventory flows, material movements, and inventory valuation.
  • Experience supporting inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation activities.
  • High level of attention to detail and experience in financial accounting and financial reporting.
  • Experience working in a high-growth, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
