Materials Manager

Purpose: The Materials Manager oversees the procurement, inventory, and supply chain operations within our manufacturing environment. It is responsible for managing materials flow, optimizing inventory levels, and ensuring seamless coordination between production and suppliers. This role requires a strong understanding of ERP systems, procurement processes, and supply chain management to support manufacturing efficiency and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end materials procurement processes using ERP systems.
  • Oversee inventory management, including inventory control, demand planning, and warehouse operations to ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Enable lean manufacturing ideas to improve parts picking efficiency and develop a kitting process to streamline material flow to the line.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to establish and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance.
  • Develop and implement production planning strategies aligned with manufacturing schedules and demand forecasts.
  • Utilize MRP (Material Requirements Planning) tools to support production scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Lead logistics efforts related to inbound materials, outbound shipments, and warehouse organization.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and quality assurance to streamline operations.
  • Monitor supply chain KPIs and prepare reports to identify areas for improvement in materials management processes.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and other supply chain management software.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, purchasing, and contract management.
  • Expertise in inventory management, inventory control, demand planning, and production scheduling.
  • Experience with MRP systems and manufacturing resource planning tools.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, logistics coordination, and warehouse operations.
  • Excellent supplier management skills with the ability to negotiate contracts effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data for continuous process improvement.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration across departments and with external partners.
  • Prior experience in supply chain management within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Fluent English (read, written, spoken).
  • Lean Manufacturing Knowledge.
  • CPIM APICS certified (Obligatory).
  • Leadership class taken desired.
  • 5 years experience in manufacturing environment.
