Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop HVAC product solutions, from concept through release. You will prepare drawings, BOMs, and change documentation while collaborating with design, production, and CAD teams to optimize for manufacturability.

You will work on components like AHUs, VAVs, FCUs, fans, dampers, and chilled beams, ensuring designs meet performance and documentation requirements. Strong collaboration and hands-on prototyping experience are valued.

Qualifications

• BE, B.Tech or M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in mechanical system design and development for HVAC products.
• Hands-on experience with CreoView; Creo-Parametric & AutoCAD desirable but not required.
• Experience with BOM creation, engineering changes, and mechanical drawing release.
• Knowledge of DFMEA and GD&T.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Nice to have SAP or other ERP systems experience for BOM management and engineering changes.
• Exposure to value engineering, prototype testing, or verification activities.
• Experience with applied HVAC platforms or chiller-related product development.

Responsibilities

• Design and support the development of complete HVAC product solutions, including equipment and mechanical assemblies.
• Prepare and update engineering drawings, BOMs, and change documentation.
• Review mechanical design requirements for AHUs, VAVs, FCUs, fans, dampers, diffusers, grills, and chilled beams.
• Work with CAD and VE teams to develop 3D models and optimize for manufacturability.
• Coordinate with product design, production, and stakeholders to move work through release.
• Support prototype builds, testing, verification, and design improvements.
• Contribute to problem-solving, design clarification, and sustainment activities.
• Provide support on sheet metal parts, assemblies, and technical documentation.
