Job summary

Johnson Controls, a global leader in HVAC systems, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop complete HVAC product solutions from concept through release. You will work with CAD and engineering teams to optimize for manufacturability, support prototypes, and manage engineering changes.

The role requires 4+ years in mechanical design for HVAC products, with hands-on AutoCAD, Creo, and Windchill experience, and a strong foundation in ASHRAE standards and thermodynamics.

Qualifications

• BE, B.Tech, or M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in mechanical system design and development for HVAC products.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Creo, and Windchill.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC&R design, ASHRAE standards, psychrometrics, thermodynamics, and refrigeration cycles.
• Experience with BOM creation, engineering changes, and mechanical drawing release.
• Good understanding of sheet metal part and assembly modelling.
• Knowledge of DFMEA and GD&T.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and support the development of complete HVAC product solutions and related mechanical assemblies.
• Prepare and update engineering drawings, BOMs, and engineering change documentation.
• Review mechanical design requirements for AHUs, VAVs, FCUs, fans, dampers, diffusers, grills, and chilled beams.
• Develop 3D models with CAD and optimize for manufacturability with value engineering teams.
• Coordinate with product design, production, and stakeholders to move work through design release.
• Support prototype builds, testing, verification, and design improvements.
• Contribute to technical problem-solving, design clarification, and sustained product updates.
• Provide support on sheet metal parts, assemblies, and technical documentation.
