Job summary

Alstom Grid is seeking a Discipline Engineering Group Head in Mexico to supervise design teams for HV substation projects. You will allocate resources, guide interfaces with partners and suppliers, and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

You will lead performance assessments and determine in-house versus subcontracted design work. You will collaborate with project teams, manage workloads, and support procurement while maintaining a focus on safety, sustainability, and efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Several years of experience in the design of substations control, cabinet in an EPC project environment. Experience with CAD software and substation design tools is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of substation control system design, or electrical distribution, ancillary services, industry standards, and regulations. Familiarity with Substation Layout is advantageous.
• Proficiency in using design and simulation, calculation software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Professional engineering certification or licensure is preferred.
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure designs meet safety, performance, sustainability, and compliance requirements.
• Basic project management skills, including the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and integrate the Control system, protection system, Electrical distribution, telecom & monitoring of a High voltage substation. It can be for example through single line diagram, schematic diagram, protection system, electrical consumption and design of auxiliary services, interlocking, communication & network.
• Initiate & support the procurement of equipment.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure the integration into the overall substation design.
• Oversee the commissioning and testing of Low voltage systems.
• Provide technical support to customers and project teams.
• Manage team's workload
• Decide to manage design in house or subcontracted, subcontractor selection and evaluation
