Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an HR Director based in Mexico.

As HR Director, you will build and lead the people function from the ground up for a fast-growing industrial and commercial real estate organization. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will shape the talent strategy, organizational structure, and performance culture as the business scales from approximately 40-45 employees to 80-100 within two years. This is a hands-on strategic leadership role combining executive recruitment, workforce planning, organizational development, and employee relations. You will establish scalable HR systems, strengthen management capabilities, and create a measurable culture of accountability and high performance. The ideal candidate is a commercially minded HR leader who can operate independently, influence executives, and turn people strategy into tangible business results.

Accountabilities
  • Build and lead the HR function, establishing the policies, processes, systems, and practices needed to support rapid organizational growth.

  • Own end-to-end recruitment across all levels, from entry-level positions to senior executive appointments.

  • Personally lead executive searches, including sourcing, assessing, negotiating with, and closing senior leaders such as COOs, CMOs, and Vice Presidents.

  • Partner with business unit leaders on workforce planning, resource allocation, and headcount forecasting.

  • Design and manage onboarding and offboarding processes that accelerate employee productivity and ensure consistent, compliant, and respectful transitions.

  • Establish performance management systems, including evaluations, quarterly check-ins, and measurable KPIs in collaboration with business leaders.

  • Identify performance and role-fit issues early, provide constructive feedback, maintain appropriate documentation, and manage employee transitions when necessary.

  • Develop career pathways, professional development opportunities, and management training initiatives to strengthen leadership capabilities.

  • Lead organizational design and workforce restructuring as the business expands and operational needs evolve.

  • Manage employee relations and day-to-day people matters with fairness, discretion, and sound judgment.

  • Develop, maintain, and consistently administer HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks in alignment with applicable US employment regulations.

  • Oversee US employment compliance across distributed workforce arrangements, including Employer of Record (EOR) and contractor frameworks.

  • Lead organizational change initiatives, communicate decisions clearly, and ensure consistent implementation across management teams.

  • Evaluate workforce effectiveness through metrics such as headcount ROI, labor efficiency, and employee performance.

Requirements
  • Significant senior-level experience in HR, talent acquisition, or people leadership within a growing entrepreneurial organization.

  • Demonstrated success building and scaling a people function while helping an organization grow from approximately 40-50 employees to 100 or more.

  • Strong executive search expertise, including personally sourcing, evaluating, and closing senior leadership candidates rather than relying exclusively on inbound applicant pipelines.

  • Substantial knowledge of US employment practices and compliance, including at-will employment, EOR arrangements, contractor frameworks, and distributed workforces.

  • Strong commercial and financial judgment, with the ability to connect workforce decisions to business performance, headcount ROI, labor efficiency, and measurable outcomes.

  • Excellent spoken and written English, with the executive presence and confidence to influence senior stakeholders and deliver difficult feedback.

  • Proven ability to work independently, establish HR processes from scratch, and build scalable systems rather than simply maintain existing ones.

  • Strong organizational design, performance management, employee relations, and change management capabilities.

  • Availability to work full-time during US Central Time business hours.

  • MBA or an equivalent advanced degree preferred; substantial relevant practical experience will also be strongly considered.

Nice to have
  • Experience in multi-vertical organizations combining operations-intensive sectors such as warehousing, logistics, construction, or real estate with professional services or capital management.

  • Experience supporting US-based companies or workforces remotely from another country.

  • Familiarity with Employer of Record platforms such as Deel or Remote.

  • Professional experience in Latin America or South Africa, particularly within organizations operating according to US business practices.

Benefits
  • Remote work: Fully remote position, offering flexibility to work from the location where you are most productive.

  • Full-time schedule: Dedicated working hours aligned with US Central Time business hours.

  • USD compensation: Salary paid in US dollars.

  • Payment schedule: Compensation paid twice monthly, on the 15th and 30th.

  • Paid time off: Leave provided according to company policy.

  • Holidays: Holiday observance in accordance with company guidelines.
