Job description

We are seeking an experienced Head of People to lead the Human Resources function for a growing international Fintech with operations in Mexico.

As a key member of the local leadership team, this role will be responsible for shaping and executing the people strategy, strengthening organizational capabilities, supporting business growth, and fostering a high-performance culture.

The Head of People will have end-to-end responsibility for the employee lifecycle in Mexico while working closely with regional and global stakeholders on broader People initiatives.

A key requirement for this position is hands-on experience applying Mexican Labor Law in real business situations. Beyond theoretical knowledge, we are looking for someone who has personally managed employee relations, terminations, labor risks, organizational changes, and other complex employment matters in Mexico.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on organizational and people-related matters.
  • Define and execute the People strategy in alignment with business priorities and global HR frameworks.
  • Lead the full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, development, performance, retention, succession, and offboarding.
  • Strengthen leadership capabilities and organizational effectiveness as the business continues to grow.
  • Provide practical guidance on Mexican employment and labor matters, balancing regulatory compliance, employee experience, and business needs.
  • Manage sensitive employee relations matters, including terminations, disciplinary processes, teleworking arrangements, organizational changes, and labor-related risks.
  • Coordinate with external labor counsel when specialized legal support is required.
  • Oversee compensation & benefits, payroll, HR administration, HR systems, employee data, and reporting.
  • Drive employee engagement and culture initiatives across the organization.
  • Support organizational transformation, restructuring, and business expansion.
  • Contribute to regional and global People projects, collaborating with international teams.
  • Lead workforce and headcount planning and manage the HR budget.
Candidate Profile
  • We are looking for a business-oriented People leader who combines strategic perspective with the ability to execute.
  • The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, international environment, partnering with senior executives while remaining close enough to the organization to understand its people, challenges, and day-to-day realities.
  • We welcome candidates with relevant leadership experience from sectors such as Fintech, Financial Services, Banking, Consumer Finance, Payments, Technology, Retail, E-commerce, Insurance, and other digital or consumer-oriented businesses.
  • Previous Fintech experience is valuable but not mandatory. More important is the ability to operate effectively in organizations characterized by growth, transformation, regulatory complexity, and demanding commercial objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or postgraduate qualification is a plus. Proven senior HR leadership experience as a Head of People, HR Director, People Director, Country HR Lead, Senior HR Business Partner, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the full HR agenda in Mexico.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Mexican Labor Law, with direct experience handling real employee and labor situations.
  • Experience advising senior leadership on organizational, talent, and workforce decisions. Background working with regional or global stakeholders in international organizations.
  • Experience leading organizational change and supporting businesses through periods of growth or transformation.
  • Strong command of HR operations, compensation & benefits, talent management, and organizational development.
  • Strong experience working with enterprise HR and business systems, including platforms such as SAP / SuccessFactors, Oracle, Microsoft solutions, or other comparable HRIS, HCM, ERP, or CRM platforms.
  • Fluent English and Spanish are mandatory. Availability for international travel.
  • Business Acumen
  • Strategic People Leadership
  • Labor & Employee Relations
  • Organizational Effectiveness
  • Executive Influence & Stakeholder Management
  • Execution & Accountability
  • Digital & HR Systems Fluency
The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to lead the People agenda in Mexico within a growing international Fintech, combining local ownership with meaningful exposure to a global organization.
