Metalsa is seeking a visionary Director of Emerging Technologies & Innovation to establish and lead a new capability that identifies technologies, concepts, materials, and manufacturing breakthroughs shaping Metalsa's future competitive position.

The role spans engineering, technology, innovation, and business strategy to create a portfolio of long-term opportunities that differentiate Metalsa in the mobility industry. Travel internationally is required and reporting to the VP of Engineering.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Materials/Metallurgical/Automotive or related field.
• 15+ years of progressive engineering and technology leadership experience.
• Experience in advanced engineering, research & technology, or future product exploration.
• Automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, or technical industrial background.
• Experience leading technology portfolios or innovation pipelines.
• Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and make evidence-based decisions.
• Experience with external innovation networks and research partners.
• Executive-level communication and stakeholder management
• Full professional proficiency in English.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the development and execution of Metalsa's long-term technology exploration strategy.

• Define methods for technology discovery, experimentation, validation, and portfolio management.

• Translate emerging technologies into actionable strategic options aligned with priorities.
• Develop partnerships with universities, research centers, startups, and technology providers.
• Drive IP generation and technology differentiation strategies.
• Create pathways to transfer opportunities into product and engineering teams.
• Build and mentor a world-class exploration and innovation team.
• Serve as a senior technical advisor to executive leadership and stakeholders.

About the Role

We are seeking a visionary and technically accomplished Director, Emerging Technologies & Innovation to establish and lead a new capability focused on identifying the technologies, product concepts, materials, and manufacturing breakthroughs that will shape Metalsa's future competitive position.

This role is responsible for exploring opportunities beyond current product and process roadmaps, transforming emerging ideas into evidence-based strategic options that can influence the future of our business. The successful candidate will operate at the intersection of engineering, technology, innovation, and business strategy, creating a portfolio of long-term opportunities capable of driving sustainable differentiation in the mobility industry.

Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, this leader will build a high-impact exploratory function, develop strategic partnerships across industry and academia, and drive the discovery of future platform, product, and manufacturing innovations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of Metalsa's long-term technology exploration strategy.
• Build and manage a portfolio of future-oriented innovation opportunities focused on product architectures, materials, manufacturing technologies, and their integration.
• Define and implement methods for technology discovery, experimentation, validation, and portfolio management.
• Establish advanced capabilities in characterization, modeling, simulation, and data-driven technology exploration.
• Translate emerging technologies into actionable strategic options aligned with business priorities.
• Develop strong partnerships with universities, research centers, startups, technology providers, and innovation ecosystems.
• Drive intellectual property generation and technology differentiation strategies.
• Create structured pathways to transfer validated opportunities into product and engineering development organizations.
• Build, mentor, and grow a world-class exploration and innovation team.
• Serve as a senior technical advisor to executive leadership and strategic stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical disciplines.
• 15+ years of progressive engineering and technology leadership experience.
• Proven experience in advanced engineering, research & technology, innovation, pre-development, or future product exploration environments.
• Strong background within automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, or highly technical industrial organizations.
• Experience leading technology portfolios, innovation pipelines, or advanced concept initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate emerging technologies and make evidence-based investment decisions.
• Experience working with external innovation networks, research institutions, and technical partners.
• Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full professional proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree, PhD, or advanced technical education.
• Experience building new technical organizations or innovation capabilities from the ground up.
• Knowledge of intellectual property strategy and technology commercialization.
• Experience with modeling, simulation, optimization, AI/ML applications, or data-driven engineering approaches.
• Global and cross-cultural leadership experience.
