Caterpillar is hiring a Design Engineer to provide support to the Reman Engine Systems team in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. You will work on high-pressure fuel pumps and other Fuel Systems products, gaining knowledge of the entire Engine Systems line and remanufacturing processes.

The role emphasizes quality, warranty, and cost-saving through salvage and new product introduction, with travel 10-15% and relocation assistance available.

Formación

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering; significant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Proficient English level.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for cross-functional work.

About the role:

The key role of a Design Engineer is to provide overall support to the Reman Engine Systems team. In this role, the Design Engineer will gain knowledge of the entire Engine Systems product line along with an understanding of the remanufacturing process. This role will be the Product Engineer for one or more high pressure fuel pumps and/or other Fuel Systems product families. The Reman Engine Systems team is accountable for the overall quality and warranty of existing products, support of product and process salvage improvement projects to manage costs, and execution of New Product Introduction (NPI) programs introducing new product offerings for our dealers and customers.

What you will do:

• Evaluate new component salvage projects / techniques
• Develop and execute validation plans to ensure salvage projects meet quality and warranty goals.
• Support NPI of Engine Systems products and perform necessary print maintenance & releasing.
• Work with buyers and supplier contacts to develop and improve supplier capabilities and performance, including warranty Joint Failure Analysis.
• Evaluate product warranty and address emerging trends or issues.
• Support production and quality issue resolution activities.
• Validate new salvage processes.
• Organize, coordinate, and execute the building, testing, and analysis of prototypes.

Education Requirement:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering curriculum, preferably Mechanical Engineering or other relevant disciplines. Significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Proficient English level

• Product Design – MFG: Extensive knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.
• Product, Design and Development: Working knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

This role will be located in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.

10-15% travel is required for this position.
