Job summary

Maersk is seeking a detail-oriented Customs Operations Specialist to execute end-to-end customs declarations in line with country requirements. You will work closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely and compliant clearance.

Responsibilities include order setup in customs tools, risk assessments, data validation, and accurate invoice-basis preparation. This is a 100% on-site role in Mexico City, with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Customs Operations, Customs Brokerage, Import/Export Operations, Freight Forwarding, Trade Compliance, or related environment.
• Intermediate Excel skills and experience using customs or billing systems such as Applite, Kewill, CargoWise One, or Global Customs Services System.
• Knowledge of Denied Party List screening, Authorized Economic Operator-aligned controls, and compliance documentation.
• Strong documentation rigor, audit readiness, and adherence to Global Authority Matrix processes.

Responsibilities

• Receive and validate online and manual order requests; guide customers on required documentation and timelines.
• Set up orders in customs tools; verify Power of Attorney, commercial agreements, service scope, and relevant declarations and terms.
• Conduct risk assessments including commodity addressability, country/location checks, and DPS screening; accept or reject bookings.
• Create and file customs declarations; submit to authorities; manage corrections, amendments, or cancellations on request.
• Provide timely status updates and archive records per local legislation; update MIS and KPIs.
