Dematic seeks an entry-level Controls Design Engineer to support both hardware and software design for material handling automation systems. You will work under mentorship to develop electrical layouts, perform calculations, and prepare operation descriptions and test specs, while collaborating on technical reviews.

Responsibilities include configuring VFDs, selecting components, building CAD drawings, and creating conveyor system emulation models.

Formación

• 0 to 2 years of related experience.
• Mechatronic Engineering degree or related field.
• Basic knowledge of PLC software (Siemens, ABB, Beckhoff).
• Basic knowledge of electrical drawing and industrial networks (ProfiNet, CAN).
• Automation systems fundamentals.

Responsabilidades

• Interpret design inputs to produce simple control system designs.
• Place electrical components in conveyor systems with accurate functioning.
• Create electrical layouts and schematics using CAD tools.
• Perform calculations (FLA, Power Drop, Cable Length) to ensure compliance.
• Design industrial networks (Ethernet, ProfiNet/ProfiNet) per standards.
• Develop simple conveyor controls software using listed tools.
• Configure VFD parameters for specific applications.
• Create ECC configuration and parameter files.
• Prepare for software technical reviews.
• Create conveyor system emulation models for testing.

Hardware Design activities of Material Handling Automation Systems with mentorship from more senior engineers. This includes but not limited to Support on the preparation of Documents such as calculations, design specifications, Description of Operations, and Test Specification, Attendance and support to more senior engineers on the preparation of documents for Technical Reviews Internals and with Customer.

Tasks and Qualifications:

This is What you Will Do in This Role:
You will have multiple responsibilities, using prescribed guidelines and policies which include, but are not limited to:

Electrical (HW) Design - With mentorship from more senior engineers.

• Interprets design input information to produce simple control systems designs.
• Select and placement of electrical and controls components in conveyor system ensuring accurate functioning. (Photoeyes, I/O Blocks, Beacon Lights, Control Stations, Gateways, VFDs, etc).
• Builds Electrical Layouts and Schematic Drawings using appropriate CAD tools.
• Performs FLA, Power Drop, Cable Length, and other calculations ensuring designs proper functioning and compliance with Dematic and Industrial Standards.
• Designs of Industrial Networks following both Dematic and Industrial standards (Ethernet, ProfiBus/ProfiNet, ASi, DCAN, etc).

Software (SW) Design - With mentorship from more senior engineers.

• Design simple conveyor controls software using programming tools such as AB Logix Designer, Siemens TIA Portal/Step 7, etc.
• Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) parameters configuration according to specific applications.
• Creation of Embedded Conveyor Controllers (ECCs) configuration and parameters files.
• Attendance and material preparation for Software Technical Reviews.
• Creation of Conveyor System Emulation Models for further testing.

What we are looking for:

• 0 to 2 years of experience in a related field and demonstration of key responsibilities and knowledge as presented above.
• Mechatronic Engineer Degree or related
• Basic Experience in the engineering work environment (school projects or internships acceptable).
• Basic knowledge and/or understanding in:
• Applied knowledge of PLC software (Siemens, ABB, Bechoff).
• Applied knowledge of Electrical Technical Drawing.
• Applied knowledge of Industrial Network configuration (ProfiNet, ASi, CAN).
• Applied Knowledge of automation systems.
