About The Role

The Content Strategist is a crucial, client-facing role that is responsible for day-to-day client deliverables, creating and managing custom client strategies, and communicating both with clients and internal stakeholders. The Strategist is responsible for more Enterprise clients and is expected to have a deep understanding of their service line and how it impacts other areas of business to create a holistic marketing strategy.

Note: internally, this role is titled Account Strategist, Content & SEO.

What You'll Do
  • Strategic Excellence and Best Practices: Create custom strategies and implement best practices for clients to achieve our NSMs. Build the initial client strategy during the project phase and continuously optimize strategies based on clients’ marketing goals, ongoing campaigns, and historical performance while adhering to Directive best practices.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Associate Director (AsD) when roadblocks arise that impact strategy and goal attainment. Craft creative briefs and compelling content campaigns informed by competitor and audience insights.
  • Best Practices: Use best practices to position clients to exceed goals. Focus areas include:
    • LTV:CAC modeling
    • Customer Generation
    • Share of SERP
    • Content Production
  • Goal Setting: Use available data to set client goals during the engagement. Goals are reviewed and approved by the AsD and presented with the AsD in client meetings. Data sources include Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMRush reporting, and Ahrefs reporting.
  • Project Management: Ensure strategy execution and clear task ownership within the Directive and client teams. Use Asana for project management. Delegate tasks to team members and clients, ensuring timely completion. Partner with Project Managers where present to create, assign, and date-tie tasks and maintain client communication. Work with content writers and designers to complete on-time campaigns and maintain client quality standards.
  • Internal and External Communication: Serve as the main interface between clients and the team. Build relationships beyond deliverables and proactively communicate with clients and internal leadership on a regular basis to drive results. Communicate timelines, progress, and deliverables via shared channels (e.g., Slack) and maintain a regular deliverables cadence. Inform internal leadership of roadblocks, growth opportunities, and changes on client accounts.
  • Reporting: Regularly report to clients on progress and impact. Cadence includes bi-weekly client meetings (with NSM progress and ongoing deliverables), monthly reports, quarterly reports, and bi-annual business reviews.

  • Analytical insight: ability to analyze website traffic and SEO metrics using tools like Google Analytics
  • Strong communication skills: comfortable with client-facing relationships with key stakeholders
  • Strong familiarity with industry tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog/crawling tools
