Job Description Summary
Manufacturing Engineering role associated with Polymer Matrix Composites (PMC) manufacturing. Responsible for planning/execution of technical projects to improve Safety/Quality/Delivery/Cost (SQDC). Expected to own the technical performance of assigned suppliers. Leading activities within the composites part family working with technical experts/key stakeholders from across the business. Leading efforts aligned with business level objectives and the drive to expand individual technical proficiency/knowledge in PMC manufacturing.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional teams consisting of design engineering, quality, materials and manufacturing; manage action plan and prioritize efforts based on SQDC within the composites supply chain (including internal & external suppliers).
  • Drive manufacturing improvements in PMC manufacturing equipment and process technology within the supply base. Task activities are focused on various areas of manufacturing technology including layup/resin transfer mold/autoclave or press cure.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, issues and significant developments as appropriate to key stakeholders in the Composites business.
  • Stay up to date on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices of polymer matrix composites manufacturing. Grow technical expertise in PMC manufacturing through training opportunities, online courses, certifications, and workshops.
  • Proactively identifies delivery barriers and resolves with fulfilment, commercial, quality, and engineering team members.
  • Acts as a Project Manager for large complex suppliers along with others.
  • Actively drives cost reduction efforts within assigned supply base and is proactively engaged in addressing cost issues.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and a Lean mentality within the manufacturing organization.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited College or University
  • Expertise in polymer matrix composites (PMC) manufacturing processes (i.e. hand layup, resin transfer molding, press cure, etc) and in resin systems (i.e. epoxy, BMI, polyimide).
  • Experience with PMC component inspection methodologies (i.e. CMM, CT, UT)
Desired Characteristics
  • Established project management skills, including planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others not in a direct reporting relationship
  • Quality, Souring, Shop Operations, or Production Control expertise.
  • Manufacturing Experience in aerospace industry.
  • Desire to pursue a technical career path leading to future roles as Certifying Agent (CA) and/or Controlled Title Holder (CTH)
  • Experience with aerospace special process control/quality management systems.
