  • Support quotation management, benchmarking, sample qualification, and specification reviews.
  • Maintain pricing accuracy and procurement data within ERP systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project execution and operational excellence.
  • Identify supply risks and implement mitigation plans.

Category Buyer

Location: Mexico

Are you passionate about strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and driving business results through procurement excellence? We are looking for a Category Buyer who will play a critical role in developing supplier partnerships, delivering productivity improvements, mitigating supply chain risks, and supporting business growth.

In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for assigned suppliers, owning supplier relationships while executing category strategies that drive cost optimization, quality, delivery performance, and sustainability objectives.

What will you do?

As a Category Buyer, you will:

Drive Category Strategy & Supplier Relationships
  • Lead supplier negotiations and RFQ processes aligned with category strategies.
  • Build strong supplier partnerships and manage supplier performance.
  • Develop sourcing strategies that improve competitiveness and business continuity.
  • Conduct supplier business reviews and support long-term supplier development initiatives.
Deliver Cost Savings & Productivity Improvements
  • Identify and implement productivity projects through sourcing initiatives, supplier changes, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Manage productivity pipelines and savings forecasts.
  • Analyze cost drivers and support should-cost initiatives.
  • Track financial impact and ensure alignment with business objectives.
Manage Procurement Operations
  • Execute sourcing activities, including eReverse Auctions and supplier awards.
  • Support quotation management, benchmarking, sample qualification, and specification reviews.
  • Maintain pricing accuracy and procurement data within ERP systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project execution and operational excellence.
Ensure Business Continuity & Risk Management
  • Partner with suppliers to improve quality, delivery, and capacity performance.
  • Identify supply risks and implement mitigation plans.
  • Support supplier crisis management and escalation processes.
  • Develop action plans for critical and high-risk suppliers.
Support Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, standards, and controls.
  • Maintain supplier records and procurement databases.
  • Support contract negotiations, including commercial agreements and supplier frameworks.
What will make you successful?
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Category Management, or related roles.
  • Experience managing supplier negotiations and commercial agreements.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and procurement processes.
  • Advanced English proficiency.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience sourcing technical or industrial categories, preferably within mechanical, manufacturing, or engineering-related commodities.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and procurement tools.
  • Experience working in a global or multinational environment.
