Ford Motor Company is seeking a Mechatronics Brake Systems Engineer to provide technical depth for new brake technologies and drive development from concept to production. You will work with a global cross-functional team to define requirements, ensure AR readiness, and support program delivery with robust design practices and investigations.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in mechatronics, 2+ years brake design/release experience, and strong leadership and communication skills to mentor the

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of brake design and release or development experience.
  • Self-starter with ability to troubleshoot vehicle problems.
  • Experience with FMA and ISO 26262.
  • Strong leadership and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead GPDS pre-program work on programs using new brake technology.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional engineers to develop and release requirements.
  • Ensure timely delivery of AR for brake technologies to support program delivery.
  • Lead supplier advanced technology meetings and guide supplier roadmaps for future Ford products.
  • Serve as technical resource for quality investigations, field service investigations, launch issue resolution, and new product development.
  • Develop brake technical standards, design rules, requirements, test methods, and engineering specifications.
  • Coach, mentor, and train members of the Global Brake Department.

Descripción del empleo

  • Provide dedicated technical depth to develop, document, and implement new technologies applicable for brake systems
  • Support application teams when developed technology is launched and assist during issue resolution
  • Understand how current technologies work and how different components interact with brake systems
  • Collaborate with a global cross-functional team of engineers to develop and release new requirements for current and future brake technologies
  • Lead GPDS pre-program work on programs using new brake technology
  • Work with the brake supply base to ensure requirements are met and the right products are developed
  • Ensure timely delivery of AR (Application Readiness) for brake technologies to support program delivery and product cycle plan
  • Lead supplier advanced technology meetings and guide the supply base on technology roadmaps for future Ford products
  • Serve as the critical technical resource for quality investigations, Field Service Investigations, launch issue resolution, and new product development
  • Lead and provide expertise in FMA (Failure Mode Avoidance), Safe Launch, Quality Operating Systems, reliability, and robustness documentation of brake systems
  • Provide SME sign-off for TDR, TVM/MCR, SREA, and CDR
  • Benchmark competitor and internal brake systems and drive efficient technical solutions
  • Develop brake technical standards, design rules, requirements, test methods, engineering specifications, preventive actions, and corporate memory
  • Coach, mentor, and train members of the Global Brake Department
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of design and release (D&R) or development brake experience
  • Self-starter who can learn to use new tools and find solutions – ability to troubleshoot & fix vehicle problems
  • Motivation to bring new technologies from concept to production in a short time
  • Outstanding leadership and written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with FMA and related quality assurance processes
  • Experience in supplier management and cost negotiation
  • Awareness of, or experience with ISO 26262, Road vehicles – Functional safety
  • Experience with complex systems, analysis tools and problem-solving methods
