Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a BD Director, Payments based in Mexico.

As a BD Director, Payments, you will drive business development and strategic partnerships across Mexico and Central America, helping shape the future of digital payments and on-chain finance. You will play a key role in expanding regional adoption of blockchain-based financial infrastructure, with a particular focus on stablecoins, cross-border payments, and institutional use cases. Working with banks, fintech companies, payment service providers, and other ecosystem stakeholders, you will identify commercial opportunities and build partnerships that generate long-term value. You will lead go-to-market strategies, support integrations, and develop new payment corridors while navigating an evolving regulatory landscape. Collaborating with international teams across legal, engineering, marketing, and finance, you will turn complex opportunities into actionable business initiatives. This is an opportunity to combine regional market expertise, strategic relationship management, and Web3 innovation in a high-autonomy, globally distributed environment.

Accountabilities
  • Identify, develop, and manage strategic relationships with key players across the payments and stablecoin ecosystem, including banks, fintech companies, payment service providers (PSPs), centralized exchanges (CEXs), digital wallets, and market makers.

  • Promote the organization's blockchain payment solutions and product roadmap, demonstrating practical applications such as on-chain foreign exchange, cross-border remittances, and emerging payment network infrastructure.

  • Identify and prioritize strategic partners, payment corridors, and commercial opportunities across Mexico and Central America.

  • Structure and lead partnership initiatives, including pilot programs, technical integrations, commercial agreements, and long-term strategic collaborations.

  • Monitor regional regulatory developments affecting digital assets, blockchain infrastructure, stablecoins, and digital payments, translating complex policy changes into actionable business insights.

  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies in collaboration with leading ecosystem partners to accelerate product adoption and generate sustainable commercial growth.

  • Maintain strong partner engagement through regular communication, relationship development, performance tracking, and clear delivery of value.

  • Prepare high-quality business development materials, including presentations, pitch decks, one-pagers, case studies, and internal strategic briefings.

  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives with legal, engineering, marketing, finance, and other internal teams to ensure successful execution of partnerships and commercial projects.

  • Maintain and improve business development processes and tools, including CRM systems, performance dashboards, KPIs, and partnership tracking mechanisms.

  • Oversee operational coordination and maintain clear visibility into active regional initiatives, priorities, deliverables, and business development performance.

  • Represent the organization in relevant industry discussions and contribute to strengthening its presence across the regional financial technology and blockchain ecosystem.

Requirements:
  • At least 6 years of professional experience in financial services, fintech, or blockchain, ideally with a focus on payments, stablecoins, or institutional cryptocurrency solutions.

  • Established professional network across Mexico and Central America's financial services, fintech, and digital payments ecosystems.

  • Proven experience leading strategic business development initiatives, negotiating partnerships, and driving complex commercial opportunities from initial engagement through execution.

  • Strong understanding of on-chain finance, including decentralized finance (DeFi), stablecoins, institutional crypto applications, and blockchain-based financial infrastructure.

  • Working knowledge of cryptocurrency and digital asset regulations across Mexico and Central America, with the ability to assess their implications for financial products and commercial strategies.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, including the ability to engage senior executives and communicate complex technical and financial concepts clearly.

  • Strong strategic thinking and commercial judgment, with the ability to identify market opportunities, prioritize partnerships, and develop scalable business models.

  • Highly organized and adaptable, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, international, and autonomous working environment.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to coordinate stakeholders across different departments and geographic regions.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in traditional payments or fintech strategy, particularly in product development, pricing, commercial strategy, or go-to-market roles.

  • Familiarity with decentralized finance, cryptocurrency infrastructure, stablecoin applications, and cross-border remittance solutions.

  • Exposure to mergers and acquisitions, investment assessments, financial due diligence, or complex deal structuring.

  • Understanding of foreign exchange flows, capital controls, and the specific financial and regulatory challenges of emerging markets.

  • Experience developing commercial and strategic materials for partners, investors, or sales teams.

Benefits:
  • Remote-first working environment, offering flexibility to work from different locations globally.

  • Comprehensive health insurance, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, with employee and dependent coverage available in certain countries depending on the applicable plan.

  • Company-issued laptop and equipment to support effective remote working.

  • Home office setup allowance of up to $1,500 (lifetime maximum).

  • Annual book allowance of $200 to support continuous learning and professional development.

  • Monthly internet or phone reimbursement of $75.

  • Flexible paid time off, supporting work-life balance and personal flexibility.

  • Mental health, employee wellness, and family health benefits, including egg-freezing support.

  • Company-sponsored retirement savings matching of up to 3% for eligible employees based in the United States.

  • Opportunity to work with an international team at the forefront of blockchain payments and digital financial infrastructure.

  • High-impact position with significant ownership of regional business development strategy and strategic partnerships.

  • Inclusive and diverse workplace that values equal opportunity, accessibility, and different professional backgrounds.
