ZEISS Group in Mexico is seeking an entry‑level Automation Technician to provide technical support for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial automation systems on the production floor.

You will work with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, and control devices, reading electrical and automation drawings, and supporting Kaizen and continuous improvement activities. B1 English and hands‑on manufacturing experience are expected.

Formación

• 6–12 months of experience in industrial automation or related field.
• Technical degree or equivalent in mechatronics or electrical engineering.
• Basic to intermediate PLC programming, ladder logic, HMIs.
• Knowledge of sensors, actuators and electrical controls.
• Reading electrical/mechanical drawings and automation docs.
• Conversational English – B1 level.

Responsabilidades

• Provide technical support for installation, integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automation systems.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, and control devices on site.
• Assist with system start-up, testing, validation, and commissioning tasks.
• Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic drawings and docs.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on automation equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and suppliers to implement solutions.

Description and Details of the Activities

• Provide technical support for the installation, integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial automation systems and equipment.
• Perform technical activities involving electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and basic automation systems, according to project and operational requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, control devices, electrical systems, and automated equipment.
• Perform basic PLC programming and modifications, including Ladder Logic, troubleshooting, and adjustments to existing control programs.
• Support the installation, testing, start-up, and validation of automated equipment and control systems.
• Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation drawings and technical documentation.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities related to automation and control systems, as required.
• Monitor and follow up on assigned activities, urgent technical requests, and project requirements to ensure timely completion.
• Maintain tools, equipment, materials, credentials, and technical resources in proper working condition, following safety and operational requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of technical activities, prepare progress reports, and communicate project status and technical issues to the Engineering team and management.
• Support project planning by estimating activity times, coordinating technical tasks, and assisting with system integration activities.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement activities to optimize processes, equipment, and work methods.
• Request, evaluate, and follow up on RFQs and supplier quotations for materials, components, tools, and equipment required for automation projects.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Quality, and external suppliers to implement technical solutions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards, including proper use of personal protective equipment and maintaining an organized work area.

Experience and Requirements

• 6–12 months of experience in industrial automation, electrical systems, controls, maintenance, manufacturing equipment, or a related technical field.
• Technical degree, associate degree, or equivalent education in Mechatronics, Electromechanics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of PLC programming, Ladder Logic, HMI systems, sensors, actuators, electrical controls, and industrial automation equipment.
• Knowledge of PLC, AutoCAD, HMI, and MATLAB or equivalent technical software is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and automation documentation.
• Experience with troubleshooting and root cause identification for technical issues.
• Knowledge of SCADA systems, distributed control systems (DCS), and industrial communication protocols is desirable.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers.
• Good organizational skills and ability to follow up on multiple technical activities and project requirements.
• Conversational English – B1 level.
• Availability to work in a manufacturing environment and perform hands‑on technical activities on the production floor.
