Job summary

CIMMYT seeks an Associate Program Director, SAS Discovery Research, to shape and lead cross‑disciplinary science programs in agrifood systems. You will guide portfolio strategy, ensure scientific excellence, and foster partnerships with national research systems, universities, and the private sector.

You will build and mentor transdisciplinary teams, lead donor engagement and competitive proposals, and oversee budgeting and compliance while advancing climate‑resilient innovations for global

Qualifications

PhD in crop science or related field.
At least 10 years of distinguished research leadership in an international research organization, academia or industry.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Contribute to defining and overseeing the execution of the SAS Discovery research strategy.
Lead and support research in systems and scaling science across disciplines.
Co-create with farmers, science systems, and partners to shape research questions and trials.
Drive excellence in science with responsible open science and data integrity.
Oversee project lifecycle, donor engagement, budgeting, and compliance.
Mentor and develop transdisciplinary teams and future leaders.
Represent CIMMYT's research at international forums and promote outputs.
