CIMMYT is seeking candidates to join its roster for Project Management related roles, with focus on Assistant Research Associate activities across CIMMYT locations. The role involves monitoring progress, evaluating outcomes, and adapting strategies to advance global food security and climate resilience through agronomic research.

Ideal candidates have a degree in agriculture, 4–5 years' experience, knowledge of agronomy and plant physiology, and strong data handling skills.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in agriculture or related scientific field.
• 4–5 years of relevant experience in agricultural research.
• Knowledge of agronomy, basic plant physiology, field plot techniques, and MS Office.
• Ability to operate agricultural equipment safely.
• English proficiency at CEFR level B2 or higher.
• Strong client orientation, critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, and communication.

Responsabilidades

• Manage breeding nurseries and pollination crews to produce high-quality seed.
• Plan experiments and seed preparation for nurseries and trials.
• Assess data quality and address data quality issues throughout the growing season.
• Operate planting, harvest, spray equipment and other implements for research operations.
• Carry out essential research equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Scout for weeds and pests to assist with plot maintenance and inform collaborators.
• Train temporary workers and team members in research techniques.
• Collect physiological and agronomic data to support projects.
• Process plant tissue samples in the laboratory following protocols.
• Manage and curate data in relevant databases.
• Support high-throughput phenotyping using mobile platforms and aerial data collection.
• Assist in processing phenotyping data and contribute to database development.
• Contribute to hiring of temporary field personnel and related processes.
