Warner Bros. Discovery in Mexico City (Polanco) seeks a Record to Report/Controller Accountant to deliver quality accounting services for regional entities.

The role reports to the Manager – Record to Report or Controller for Argentina and Chile based in Mexico City and collaborates with the Local Entity Financial Controller, GBS and external auditors. The position handles month-end journaling, GL reconciliations, IC invoices, bank reconciliations, and closes with SOX documentation and process

Formación

• Bachelor degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• 2 years accounting experience minimum.
• 1-2 years SAP FI/CO experience preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare monthly reconciliations and report variances to Accounting Manager.
• Maintain bank reconciliations and close processes per monthly calendar.
• Support regional closing activities and ensure SOX documentation is complete.
• Identify process improvements for standardization and efficiency.
• Coordinate with Global Business Services and external auditors.

The Role

The primary responsibility of the Record to Report (RTR) or Controller Accountant is to deliver quality accounting services for Warner Bros. Discovery entities. The role will be based in Polanco, Mexico City and will report directly to the Manager – Record to Report or Controller for Argentina and Chile based in Mexico City. The RTR/ Controller Accountant will need to work for their respective region and report to the Accounting Managers of that region or above and work closely with the Local Entity Financial Controller, including other Business Departments, Global Business Services (GBS), the broader Finance community, Internal Audit, and external auditors, Tax team and Financial Compliance. This individual will be responsible for ensuring accounting policies are followed for their respective region, month end processes are completed accurately and on timely basis and ensure completeness of SOX documents and process related documentations.

You Role Accountabilities

• Responsible for preparing and posting month end journal entries, reconciling GL accounts, issuing IC invoices and other month end related standard and ad-hoc activities
• Analyze the monthly activity of assigned accounts. Identify and highlight relevant variances and differences in QTD and YTD analysis. Provide preliminary explanations of the reasons for those variances and share this information with the Sr. Accountant for their review.
• Prepare supporting files to analyze the monthly activity of assigned accounts. Identify and highlight relevant variances and differences in QTD and YTD analysis. Report those variances to the Accounting Manager
• Prepare monthly reconciliation of assigned accounts. Identify improvement areas in the supporting files and documents used to back up those reconciliations in Cadency Certification. Suggest those changes to the Accounting Manager.
• Bank Reconciliations process, bank upload, clearing of open items, follow up to clear the items
• Participate in the closing activities in the region
• Ensuring completeness of close for appointed entities
• Improving processes through standardization and simplification
• Ensuring completeness of month end accounting process as per the month end calendar
• Other duties and responsibilities as requested by his/her key Customers/Stakeholders in respective accounting region

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Accounting
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience,
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in SAP FI/CO
• Blackline and Cadency experience would be preferred
• Advanced user of Excel and other MS tools.
• SOX controls experience and ability to articulate key SOX controls in General Accounting
• Very good communication skills, soft skills, interpersonal skills
• Experience working in Multinational/Multicultural organization matrix
• Agility, flexibility, analytical, problem solving, putting extra effort to serve business-oriented goals

Other Requirements

• Required to be in the Polanco office three days a week (specific days to be determined upon hire)
• Bilingual (English and Spanish)
