Job summary

KUZU GROUP is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (Site Manager – Civil) to oversee on-site execution at the South Al-Mutlaa site. The role requires coordinating heavy equipment, subcontractors, and site workflows in line with approved drawings and specifications.

Fluent English is required; Arabic is an asset for liaison with Kuwaiti authorities and suppliers. Minimum 15 years of field execution experience on large water/wastewater or heavy civil projects is expected.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Civil Engineering with 15 years’ field execution experience.
• Proven track record on large-scale water/wastewater or heavy civil projects.
• Fluent English; Arabic is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of site safety, QA/QC, and consultant coordination.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily construction activities across WWTP units, lifting stations, and structures.
• Maintain full-time on-site presence during the contract duration.

Job description

Position Title: Assistant Project Manager (Site Manager – Civil)

Project Phase: Mobilisation and Construction Execution

Reports To / Direct Reports: Reports directly to the Project Manager. Direct reports include Senior Civil Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical/I&C Engineers, General Site Superintendents, and Survey Engineers.

POSITION PURPOSE

Maintain full-time, direct operational control over the South Al-Mutlaa site, coordinating workforce logistics, heavy equipment, subcontractors, and work-front sequencing in accordance with approved shop drawings and specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage daily construction activities across all WWTP treatment process units, lifting stations, TSE lines, and administrative structures.
• Maintain mandatory continuous presence on site during all working hours throughout the contract duration.
• Implement site logistics plans, including access roads, batching plant coordination, material laydown, and heavy crane setups.
• Coordinate daily site inspections with the Consultant's resident inspection team.
• Allocate labor, plant, and materials to ensure physical progress aligns with weekly and monthly look-ahead programs.

AUTHORITY & DECISION-MAKING

• Responsible for: Physical execution of works on site in compliance with approved drawings.
• Authorized to instruct: Subcontractors, field engineers, general foremen, and plant operators.
• Not authorized: Not empowered to amend contractual terms, agree to financial variations, or alter approved design details without Project Manager and Consultant authorization.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications: B.Sc. in Civil Engineering.

Required Experience: Minimum 15 years of field execution experience in projects of a similar type and value scale (large-scale water/wastewater treatment plants or heavy civil infrastructure).

Technical Competencies: Deep excavation, dewatering, water-retaining structures (BS 8007 / ACI 350), mass concrete pours, interface sequencing.

Language Requirements: Fluent written and spoken English is required; English is the working language for all correspondence, submittals, and reporting to MPW and the Consultant. Arabic is a distinct asset for liaison with Kuwaiti authorities, local suppliers, and the workforce.

INTERFACES, DELIVERABLES & PERFORMANCE

Key Interfaces: Consultant Site Inspectors, Subcontractor Site Managers, HSE Engineer, QA/QC Field Engineers, Procurement Logistics Team.

Key Deliverables: Daily site activity logs, 3-week look-ahead schedules, field inspection requests (RFIs), subcontractor resource allocation charts.

KPIs: Achievement of weekly physical milestones; reduction of re-work / non-conformance reports (NCRs); on-time closure of site observation notices.
