Job Summary

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking for a strong leader to oversee facility operations at Arizona State Prison Complex – Eyman. As a Physical Plant Supervisor III, you'll manage essential repairs, renovations, and construction, ensuring efficiency and compliance.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for timely and effective planning and implementation of all programs, work projects, and activities that include repairs, remodel, replacement, construction, costing, and scheduling of buildings, equipment, and tools
  • Preparation of detailed, accurate reports
  • Supervises, manages, assigns, and inspects subordinates and tradesmen work assignments to ensure compliance with policies and procedures of all completed projects for building repairs, maintenance, and construction, to include water supply, sewer waste water treatment plant, and the electrical supply
  • Trains and certifies staff in heavy equipment operation
  • Prepares, replaces, and settles all warranty claims
  • Coordinates all-natural gas inspections
  • Reviews and interprets blueprints, schematics, and sketches for private contractor bids
  • Oversees and consults new prison construction with complex Warden, Deputy Warden of Operations, and Physical Plant Operations Administrator/Physical Plant Director
  • Orders and tracks materials and confers with engineering firms, contractors, and State and Federal agencies
  • Drives on State business
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge Of

Selective Preference(s)

  • One (1) year of experience or equivalent to a Physical Plant Supervisor II; or two (2) years of experience or equivalent to a Physical Plant Supervisor I
  • College/vocational computer training, workshops, seminars, and in-service training
Pre-Employment Requirements

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
