RINA is currently recruiting for a Site Operations Manager - DIRETTORE OPERATIVO DI CANTIERE to join its office in Genoa, Rome or Milan, Italy within the Civil Engineering Division.
Mission
Within RINA's Infrastructures Business Unit, the role is focused on managing construction activities to ensure they adhere to project specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, environmental issues, and are completed on time and within budget by coordinating the work of construction teams and subcontractors.
Key Accountabilities
- Project Development: Control construction projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to design, specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Document Review: Review accountable documents and prepare official deliverables vs Contractor.
- Quality Control: Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain the highest construction quality standards.
- Project Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed project timelines and deliverables under senior supervision, identifying and addressing delays or risks.
- Resource Coordination: Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure the availability of necessary resources, materials, and equipment.
- Cost Management: Monitor project expenditures and provide input on cost control measures to keep projects within budget.
- Safety Compliance: Collaborate with the Construction Safety Senior Engineer to ensure all work is performed in adherence to safety regulations and best practices.
- Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve technical issues and challenges that arise during construction.
- Progress Reporting: Prepare and submit regular progress reports and technical updates to stakeholders, highlighting accomplishments, issues, and proposed solutions.
- Contractor Claims Management: Support the principal engineer in managing Contractor claims.
- Change Management: Handle changes in project scope, schedule, or design. Ensure that all necessary adjustments are communicated and implemented.
- Document Management: Maintain project documentation, including plans, drawings, and records of project-related communications.
- On-Site Support: Provide direct day-to-day support and oversight of project elements, including site visits to take measurements.
- Engineering Support: Provide direct or indirect support to engineers or engineering teams by gathering data for permit applications and submitting documentation to officials.
- Project Timeline Development: Develop project schedules and deliverable timelines under the supervision of more experienced engineers.
- Technical Deliverables: Prepare technical deliverables, such as technical reports, project performance documentations, and engineering drawings.
- Quality Management: Be aware of and understand the Quality Policy, ensuring that all activities are executed in accordance with the RINA Quality Management System (QMS).
Education
Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant field. Doctorate/PHD is a plus.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in construction supervision, preferably in civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license highly desirable.
- Certification in Construction Management or related field is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of construction techniques, standards, and project workflows.
- Strong track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
