Job Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Brake System Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pistoia - IT.

Accountabilities

• Preparation of the system requirements specification.
• Analysis of technical proposals from Suppliers.
• Verification of drawings/documents (Electrical, Mechanical, pneumatic, etc.) for installation/integration on board.
• Preparation of the functional requirements specification for integration with TCMS.
• Preparation/verification of the functional & performance test specification.
• System Stand-alone type test attendance and type test report review.
• Support during onboard integration & performance type tests.
• Review of the design documentation with customer and supplier.
• Support to homologation process.

Required Skills/ Knowledge

• Experience to perform the aforementioned accountabilities as dictated in section above.
• Good experience (at least 5 years) gained in the rolling stock construction industry with the role of System Engineer on BRAKE Systems.
• Good knowledge of the disciplines of electrotechnics, electronics, pneumatics and sufficient knowledge of basic mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of the main regulations/standards relating to on board systems in railway sector (EN50155, TSI Loc&Pass, TSI PRM, etc) and the specific standards applicable to the brake system.
• Knowledge of the main office automation software/tools (Word, Excel, etc.).

Desired Skills/ Knowledge

• Knowledge of the basic concepts of the RAMS disciplines and of the on board communication networks (MVB, Ethernet, etc.).
• Possible knowledge of electrical/mechanical design software (Autocad, Creo, Catia, etc.) and/or numerical/functional simulation tools (Matlab, Simulink, etc.).
• Interdisciplinary approach.
• Team-working attitude.
• Flexibility.
• Result orientation.
• Readiness to travel occasionally.

Education / Qualifications

Master's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics disciplines are a preferential title).

Languages

Knowledge of written and spoken English (at least B2 level).
