Job summary

Telespazio, part of the Leonardo Space Division, is seeking a Verification and Validation Test Engineer in Rome to join the System Deployment and Qualification Unit. You will define and run IVV campaigns for Satellite Systems Ground Segments and collaborate in an integrated IVV team to ensure tests are thorough and compliant.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Aerospace or Computer Science and at least 3 years of IVV experience, with strong Linux/Windows skills, VM and container knowledge,

• At least 3 years of experience in IVV testing for Satellite Systems Ground Segments.
• Strong experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to scheduling, preparation and execution of IVV campaigns.
• Define requirements verification test methods (DVCMs).
• Define test scenarios and prepare IVV plans and procedures.
• Participate in execution of test procedures per IVV plans and campaigns.
• Contribute to Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) and Test Review Board meetings (TRBs).
• Prepare test execution reports and analyze anomalies.
• Support the Technical Manager in IVV duties and reviews.

Inside the Ground Segment and Systems Engineering Area in Rome, we are looking for a Verification and Validation Test Engineer to be assigned to the System Deployment and Qualification Unit.

He/She is responsible for the definition and execution of tests campaign as part of the Integration, Verification and Validation activities for Satellite Systems Ground Segments (G/S). He/She shall work in an integrated IVV team for the preparation and execution of the test campaigns of complex systems.

Activities/Responsibilities

• Contribute to scheduling, preparation and execution of the IVV campaigns
• Requirements verification test method definition (DVCMs)
• Test Scenarios definition
• IVV Plans and procedures preparation
• Participate in the execution of test procedures using the approved IVV plans and in agreement with the test campaigns, including contribution to Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) and Test Review Board meetings (TRBs)
• Prepare test execution and reports
• Investigation and analysis of anomalies
• Participate to formal reviews and key points
• Support the Technical Manager in the IVV duties

Qualifications / Experience

• Master's Degree or equivalent from an institution of higher education in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or related fields
• At least 3 years of experience

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in Integration, Verification & Validation (IVV) activities, including identification of necessary test data and tools, software testing, software debugging
• Strong proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of Virtual Environments (VMWare, esxi, vsphere, openstack, KVM)
• Knowledge of containers technology and related environments (e.g. Dockers, Kubernetes )
• Knowledge of shell scripting
• Good English knowledgee

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of space and ground system engineering processes, and system and software life-cycles and standards (e.g. ECSS )
• Knowledge of Agile/DevOps models and related testing approach (e.g. Jenkins)
• Knowledge of programming languages (Java, Python, Bash script, Javascript)
• Knowledge of Cloud-based infrastructure and applications, microservices architectures
• Knowledge of Networking, Network Protocols and related issues
