Job summary

HITACHI ENERGY ITALY S.P.A. in Milan, Lombardy, Italy seeks a capable engineer to lead the secondary electrical design for substations and industrial power systems.

You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams across internal and external partners to deliver high-quality project outcomes. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 4+ years in secondary engineering, with knowledge of protection concepts, FAT/SAT, and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in secondary engineering for substations or industrial power systems.
• Knowledge of protection concepts (differential, distance, overcurrent) and FAT/SAT processes.
• Strong commitment to safety and workplace health and safety practices.
• Collaborative, solution-oriented mindset with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the secondary electrical design scope for substations or industrial power systems.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities across internal and external teams.
• Prepare, review, and validate technical specifications, equipment selections, and engineering deliverables (SLDs, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts).
• Develop and verify protection and control schemes and perform engineering calculations.
• Support FAT and SAT activities and ensure compliance with standards and grid codes.
• Engage with customers, suppliers, and project stakeholders as technical lead for secondary engineering.
