Job summary

Prysmian Group in Merlino (LO) is seeking a Maintenance Intern to join our manufacturing plant. You will support preventive and corrective maintenance, learn about production processes and safety standards, and gain hands-on experience in industrial maintenance within a dynamic plant environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed Technical High School Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel; SAP knowledge is a plus but not required.
• Interest in industrial maintenance and manufacturing environments; basic knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities on plant equipment.
• Assist in planning and scheduling maintenance interventions, including planned maintenance and production shutdown activities.
• Monitor maintenance activities and update maintenance records and documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers during maintenance operations.
• Assist in the implementation and continuous improvement of maintenance and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) procedures.
• Support the management and organization of technical warehouses and spare parts inventory.
• Help create purchase requisitions for materials and services and support administrative activities within SAP.
• Participate in maintenance projects, equipment upgrades, and plant improvement initiatives.
• Support the development and maintenance of digital tools used for maintenance management and reporting.
• Work closely with Production and other departments to better understand plant operations and maintenance needs.

About the Role

We are looking for a Maintenance Intern to join our manufacturing plant in Merlino (LO). Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Manager and working closely with the Maintenance team, you will have the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in industrial maintenance, supporting both preventive and corrective maintenance activities while learning about production processes, safety standards, and maintenance planning. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to develop technical and organizational skills in a dynamic industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Maintenance team in carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance activities on plant equipment.
• Assist in the planning and scheduling of maintenance interventions, including planned maintenance and production shutdown activities.

• Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers during maintenance operations.

Requirements

• Education Currently pursuing or recently completed a Technical High School Diploma or a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Technical Skills Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Interest in industrial maintenance and manufacturing environments. Knowledge of SAP is a plus but not required. Basic knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems is considered an advantage.
