Jobgether, on behalf of a partner, seeks a Senior Software Engineer (Edge – Devices & Mobile) in Italy to build a cross‑platform Rust peer runtime for Windows, Android, Linux, with macOS planned. You will ensure performance, security, and reliability across a globally distributed fleet.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, handle on‑call incidents, and contribute to architecture, observability, and platform expansion to Android via NDK/JNI, while integrating Cronet and native APIs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Rust development in production
• Experience with cross-platform Rust on Windows, macOS, and Android
• Experience with FFI and integrating Rust with C/C++ libraries and native OS APIs (JNI/NDK, Win32, POSIX)
• Strong networking knowledge (TCP/TLS/HTTP) and ability to inspect traffic
• Experience with asynchronous Rust (Tokio/Tonic)
• Focus on observability, performance, and production reliability
• Excellent written communication in English

Responsabilités

• Design, develop, and maintain a cross-platform Rust peer runtime for Windows, Android, Linux, with macOS future
• Manage process lifecycles, networking, updates, and stability across diverse hardware
• Lead Android device expansion using NDK/JNI, battery/network considerations
• Integrate native networking technologies (Cronet, C++) into Rust libraries
• Collaborate across teams on safe memory management and FFIs
• Collect and analyze hardware/OS signals to improve network realism
• Develop device-level observability and performance metrics
• Expand capabilities to support new workloads while maintaining security
• Participate in on-call rotations and post-mortems
• Contribute to architecture reviews and engineering standards
