Job summary

Park IP, a Welo Globalbrand, seeks a Senior Russian Legal Linguist to ensure high-quality Russian deliverables by managing translation and copy-editing tasks, coordinating with freelancers and agencies, and maintaining key language resources.

You will handle terminology queries, collaborate with clients and internal teams to improve workflows, and support quality efforts through editing and error arbitration. A strong background in IP/legal content is required.

Qualifications

• University degree in Translation, Applied Languages, Linguistics, or related field.
• Native-level proficiency in Russian; Fluent in English.
• 8+ years of translation, localization, editing, or content writing.
• 5+ years in linguistic review and copy-editing.
• Excellent knowledge of IP/legal terminology (patents, trademarks, copyrights, IP litigation).
• Experience as SME for content specialties, service lines, and processes.
• Proficient with CAT tools (XTM, SDL Trados) and issue-tracking tools (JIRA).
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; able to train others.

Responsibilities

• Perform copy-editing on assigned projects or accounts.
• Perform on-demand translation tasks.

• Own deliveries translated internally or by partners for one or more accounts.
• Create and maintain glossaries, style guides, and work instructions.
• Resolve terminology and language questions with the team.

• Train internal linguists and freelancers per account needs.
• Interact with clients on linguistic matters as required.
• Develop and improve working processes and propose improvements.
• Meet and exceed productivity, on-time delivery, and quality metrics.
• Match goals set by the Team Manager.

Role Overview

The Senior Russian Legal Linguist ensures high-quality Russian-language deliverables by managing translation and copy-editing tasks, coordinating with freelancers and agencies, and maintaining key language resources. They handle terminology and style queries, collaborate with clients and internal teams to improve workflows, and support overall quality efforts through editing and error arbitration.

Main Responsibilities

• Performing copy-editing tasks on assigned projects or accounts
• Performing on-demand translation tasks
• Performing lead linguist role on assigned accounts
• Taking ownership of deliveries that were translated internally or by external partners for one or more accounts into their target language
• Preparing, managing, and maintaining language materials—such as glossaries, style guides, and work instructions to ensure they remain high-quality, accurate, and up to date for each account or project
• Ensuring good interaction among team members and resolving questions on terminology and language matters
• Coordinating with freelancers, agencies and internal linguists on assigned projects or accounts
• Testing and qualifying new freelancers and vendors as required
• Developing and training internal linguists, as well as new and existing freelancers, in alignment with account requirements and Welo Global's standards
• Interacting with clients on linguistic matters as required
• Participating in the development of new and improved working processes.
• Propose process improvements.
• Meeting or exceeding key performance metrics related to productivity, on-time delivery, and quality
• Achieving the goals set by the Team Manager

Requirements

• Education Level: University degree in Translation, Applied Languages, Linguistics, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Native-level proficiency in Russian
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• 8+ years of relevant experience in translation, localization, editing, or content writing
• 5+ years of experience in linguistic review and copy-editing
• Thorough understanding of the localization process
• Excellent knowledge of terminology used in legal materials (intellectual property, patents, agreements, trademarks, copyright, IP litigation, among others)
• Experience serving as a subject-matter expert for assigned content specialties, service lines, and processes
• Excellent user experience with standard CAT tools (e.g., XTM, SDL Trados Studio) and with issue-tracking and query-management tools (e.g., JIRA)
• Excellent user experience of standard software, such as Windows and Office applications
• Ability to learn new localization tools and applications quickly
• Ability to give clear, concise and constructive feedback
• Ability to coordinate internal and external translators
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability and willingness to train/teach others and pass on knowledge
• Ability to work with tight deadlines
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, linguists
