Job description

Overview

Translated is where technology and humanity meet to create global understanding. Founded in 1999 by a linguist and a computer scientist, we are on a mission to allow everyone to understand and be understood in their own language. We envision a world where people from different cultures can communicate seamlessly, with unprecedented access to knowledge, cultural exchange, and business opportunities. To make this possible, we combine a network of over 500,000 vetted, native-speaking language professionals with a unique translation AI, Lara, capable of recognizing its limits and explaining its choices. Through an ecosystem of AI-powered translation tools (Matecat, Matesub, Matedub), an enterprise localization platform (TranslationOS), and an online translator (Lara Translate), we support more than 400,000 clients in 200 languages, helping people and organizations connect across cultures. Everything we build reflects a simple principle: technology should amplify human potential, not replace it. Whether through a marketing campaign, an event, or a new process, every project at Translated contributes to a larger purpose: bringing people closer together through understanding. At Translated, you’ll join an international, collaborative environment where curiosity, creativity, and excellence are valued as much as results. We believe in humans.

Role

We are looking for a Localization Quality Manager who will drive quality initiatives for both human and machine translation workflows, work with translators and directly with our top clients in the digital space. As Quality Manager you will be responsible for defining and managing all quality-related activities for one or more clients, ensuring the highest level of quality in deliverables. This includes defining quality requirements for human and MT output, training and monitoring linguists, defining and executing machine translation engine quality improvement activities, reporting on quality internally and to clients as well as handling quality feedback and escalations from clients. QMs work closely with Community Managers to recruit resources and negotiate rates, as well as with Data Scientists to report on and improve MT engine behaviour. They may also collaborate with the HQM to improve efficiency, quality at scale for all clients, and profitability for the company, as well as creating new and innovative processes to leverage AI and technology to measure both human and machine translation quality. A data-driven approach to define strategies and activities aimed at improving quality is a significant aspect of the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define quality requirements and frameworks for assigned clients, both for human and MT workflows.
  • Develop client or service-specific training and testing programs. Carry out hands-on training and individual performance improvement plans to help freelancers in our pool reach the required quality standards on any given project.
  • Manage linguistic assets for clients, including machine translation, translation memory, glossaries, and style guides.
  • Oversee teams of linguists, Language Experts and Language Leads for assigned clients, monitoring and improving linguists' performance to ensure consistent high-quality outcomes.
  • Analyze quality by employing a data-driven approach to define and measure quality metrics, leading to actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary QM point of contact with clients, attending meetings and presenting quality data and improvement plans during business reviews.
  • Collaborate with other departments (PgM, PjM, AM, Data Science) to ensure a seamless and efficient workflow between teams for assigned clients.
Requirements
  • 3+ years experience in the localization industry with a focus on Quality Management;
  • Excellent knowledge of English and preferably another language;
  • Excellent computer and web skills required;
  • Proven experience with and understanding of automatic quality estimation for MT and machine translation quality best practices;
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to define improvement plans based on data analysis;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Excellent fluid intelligence and high work ethic;
  • Preferred experience in teaching or training;
  • Preferred working experience or University studies in business, management or translation.
