Job summary

METLEN Energy & Metals, based in Milan, Italy, seeks a Senior Permitting Engineer to drive permitting for renewable energy projects, powering our mission of sustainable energy generation. Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, focusing on permitting and compliance.
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, engineering, environmental science, or related field.
• MSc or MBA will be considered an asset.
• Proven experience with grid interconnection agreements, expropriation processes, and negotiations with landowners.
• Strong knowledge of renewable energy technologies (solar, wind, BESS, etc.), local regulations, and technical configurations.
• Fluency in Italian and English.

Responsibilities

• Identifying and evaluating new renewable energy business opportunities, including Greenfield and Brownfield projects, joint ventures, and acquisitions, while ensuring compliance with permitting and regulatory requirements
• Leading the permitting process by managing documentation, timelines, and relationships with authorities to secure timely approvals for project development, installation, and operation
• Negotiating interconnection agreements with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), Transmission System Operators (TSOs), and joint ventures related to grid infrastructure
• Collaborating with internal and external multidisciplinary teams to prepare and submit comprehensive permitting documents, ensuring regulatory compliance and adherence to approval conditions
• Maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, including local and regional authorities, landowners, and technical teams, to expedite approvals and mitigate risks
