EdgeConneX is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead on-site mechanical and electrical operations at our Milano data centre. You will ensure 100% uptime, manage maintenance and safety programs, and coordinate with contractors and the Campus Manager on critical infrastructure projects.

The role requires onsite training at other EdgeConneX locations and significant travel in the first six months. A strong background in power systems, MOP development, and CMMS is essential.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electrical engineering with power systems focus.
• 5+ years of hands-on data centre operations or critical facilities engineering.
• LV/HV switchgear certification required; OSHA 30 or equivalent soon after joining.
• Strong independent judgment and risk-based decision making in high-risk maintenance.

Mansioni

• Maintain day-to-day operational responsibility for critical mechanical and electrical systems with 100% uptime.
• Plan, organize, and execute the site Preventive Maintenance schedule as approved.
• Develop detailed Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation for maintenance activities.
• Organize and oversee testing of mission-critical equipment with safe, documented results.
• Manage contractors and vendors; ensure work logs in CMMS and adherence to procedures.
• Keep Campus Manager informed; escalate risks and deviations as needed.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies during working hours following the site plan.
• Participate in on-call rota to support continuous site operations.
• Coordinate customer-requested work and provide updates to customer and Campus Manager.
• Monitor site systems for early degradation signs and recommend improvements.
• Identify energy efficiency opportunities to reduce operating costs without compromising reliability.
• Maintain accurate CMMS records and ensure documentation compliance.
