Job summary

Alpitronic is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer in Bolzano to design and develop the backend platform for an incident-automation solution. You’ll build scalable services, implement telemetry processing, and orchestrate workflows across IoT-enabled charging infrastructure.

You will partner with product, R&D, and data teams to evolve architecture, ensure reliability, and enable secure, observable operations in a fast-growing company focused on e-mobility. Fluent English; Italian/German a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Significant backend engineering experience in production systems.
• Proficiency in C# / .NET and designing distributed backend services and cloud-based APIs.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, message queues, async processing, and workflow/state management.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and time-series, event, or document data models.
• Experience with system integration, observability, logging, tracing, and operational monitoring.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, CI/CD, and modern cloud deployment practices; AWS.
• Exposure to IoT/industrial environments is a plus.
• Strong systems thinking and architectural judgment.

Responsibilities

• Evolve architecture to be modular, event-driven, scalable, and maintainable.
• Build and maintain integrations with telemetry, ticketing, service workflows, and product components.
• Improve workflow reliability, idempotency, retry mechanisms, state management, and auditability.
• Collaborate with product, service, R&D, and data teams to translate playbooks into backend capabilities.
• Contribute to decisions on rules handling, orchestration, context modeling, observability, and scalability.
• Support secure, governed AI/agent-based backend capabilities when appropriate.
• Help define engineering standards, testing, deployment patterns, and long-term architecture.

Job description

As a Senior Backend Engineer you will design and develop the backend and core platform for an incident‑automation solution that enables Alpitronic to detect charger issues early, trigger reliable automated remediation, and scale autonomous operations across a rapidly growing network. You will evolve today’s automation logic into a robust, maintainable, and scalable product platform by strengthening system architecture, workflow reliability, integrations, and observability.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and implement backend services for an incident‑automation platform, including telemetry processing, orchestration, workflow execution, case/ticket integrations, and platform APIs
• Evolve the current architecture from tightly coupled workflows and database‑driven logic to a modular, event‑driven, and scalable backend platform
• Build and maintain reliable integrations with charger telemetry, ticketing/case systems, service workflows, and customer‑facing product components
• Improve workflow reliability, idempotency, retry mechanisms, state management, error handling, and auditability across automated playbooks
• Collaborate with product, service, R&D, and data engineering teams to translate operational playbooks into maintainable backend capabilities
• Contribute to technical decisions on rules/policy handling, workflow orchestration, context modeling, observability, and system scalability
• Support the implementation of secure, governed, and monitorable AI/agent‑based backend capabilities where appropriate
• Help define engineering standards, testing strategies, deployment patterns, and the long‑term backend architecture

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Significant backend engineering experience in production systems
• Strong proficiency in C# / .NET and in designing distributed backend services and cloud‑based APIs
• Experience with event‑driven architectures, message queues, async processing, and workflow/state management
• Solid knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and familiarity with time‑series, event, or document data models
• Experience with system integration, observability, logging, tracing, and operational monitoring
• Hands‑on experience with Docker, CI/CD, and modern cloud deployment practices; AWS; exposure to workflow/orchestration engines, rules engines, or complex backend automation and experience in IoT, industrial, fleet, or other operationally critical environments are considered a plus
• Strong systems thinking, architectural judgment, and pragmatic problem‑solving mindset
• Ability to balance speed, maintainability, and reliability, with clear communication across technical and non‑technical teams
• Ownership mentality, ability to drive topics independently, and comfort working in ambiguity
• Collaborative attitude and willingness to challenge assumptions constructively
• Fluent English; German and/or Italian is a plus
