Job summary

Johnson & Johnson in Milan, Madrid, or Lisbon is seeking a Lead AI Operations Engineer to shape and scale enterprise AI capabilities. You will blend SRE, DevSecOps, LLMOps, AgentOps, FinOps, security, and compliance to run AI applications safely and cost-effectively at scale.

The role requires hands-on Python, APIs, IaC, and CI/CD expertise, plus experience with cloud-native platforms and multi-model environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of hands-on Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps, DevSecOps, MLOps, or production software engineering.
• Experience operating Machine Learning, Generative AI, or agentic systems in production.
• Hands-on capability in Python, APIs, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD practices (Terraform, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• Experience with cloud-native platforms, containers, orchestration, and enterprise cloud services (Azure preferred).
• Strong knowledge of LLM application patterns (RAG, vector stores, tool calling, agent memory).
• Working knowledge of IAM, secrets management, secure logging, and audit controls.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end observability for AI apps and agents, including prompts, model calls, tool usage, latency, and context.
• Establish telemetry and distributed tracing across agent workflows and services.
• Build dashboards and alerts for availability, latency, errors, and cost.
• Define SLOs, error budgets, and readiness criteria for AI services.
• Enable trace-based debugging and controlled session replay with data privacy.
• Lead root-cause analysis for AI platform incidents and drive preventive improvements.
• Engineer reusable pipelines and controls for configuration, versioning, and gates across environments.
• Implement automated deployment gates with tests, validation, and security checks.
• Enable controlled rollout patterns like canaries and feature flags.
• Provide tooling that supports multiple models, clouds, and agent patterns.
