Job summary

The Senior Agriculture Adviser role is based in Rome, working with the Australian Embassy under DAFF. You will deliver high‑level policy advice, analysis, and reporting to support Australia’s engagement with FAO and member states.

The position requires occasional after-hours work and involves liaison with FAO and industry partners. This permanent full-time role demands strong English communication, stakeholder management and the ability to operate in a multilateral environment while representing

Qualifications

• High-level policy advice, briefing and strategic analysis.
• Liaison with UN agencies, FAO and other stakeholders.
• Strong written and oral communication in English.
• Ability to work with senior government and industry representatives.
• Proven ability to manage priorities with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level policy advice and strategic analysis for FAO-related matters.
• Conduct complex research and synthesize papers for DAFF leadership.
• Build and manage relationships with FAO management, FAO Members and industry groups.
• Represent Australia at FAO meetings and prepare briefings and talking points.
• Coordinate arrangements for FAO meetings and official visits.
