Tropico Security, based in Milan, Italy, is seeking an experienced security-focused engineer to join our team. You will work on designing and securing software platforms that power critical infrastructure, with emphasis on scalable architectures and secure coding practices.

Role offers on-site work in Milan with the option to work remotely from Italy; compensation ranges reflect seniority and role, with equity opportunities for top performers.

Competenze

• Fluency in at least one primary programming language and reading a second.
• Experience with relational DB design, indexing, and query tuning.
• Familiarity with REST API design and consumption.
• Strong Git skills including branching strategy and code review etiquette.
• Secure coding practices.
• Experience with IaC and CI/CD automation.
• Ability to design systems and decompose problems into services.

Required Skills:

Must have

• Fluency in at least one primary language (e.g. Python, Go, TypeScript, Java, Rust) and comfortable reading a second
• Database work: relational schema design, indexing, query tuning, familiarity with at least one non-relational store
• REST API design and consumption
• Version control with Git, including branching strategy and code review etiquette
• Secure coding
• Infrastructure as code and CI/CD automation
• System design: decomposing a problem into services, handling failure modes, reasoning about trade-offs

Nice to have

• Cloud architecture and hands-on cost optimisation (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• MDM and on-prem device management experience
• ISO 27001 and SOC 2 experience: controls, policies, audits, evidence collection
• Active Directory / Entra ID knowledge: structure, trusts, GPOs, replication
• Familiarity with AD attack paths and tooling (Kerberoasting, ADCS abuse, BloodHound)
• Identity and access management, SSO, MFA
• Detection engineering, logging, and monitoring (SIEM, EDR, cloud audit logs)
• Windows internals, endpoint security, or red team experience

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary (from €40,200 to €87,600 + equity, depending on the role and experience. With exceptionally experienced candidates it can go up to €120,000)

The selection process
