Job summary

Prysmian in Merlino (LO), Italy, seeks an Energy Cable Designer to join the Italy R&D Design & Cost team. The role focuses on designing electrical cables, costing, and providing technical data for sales.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, 1–2 years in industry, and fluency in Italian and English. Join a matrix organization with strong collaboration across development and manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical/Electrotechnical/Electronic Engineering.
• 1–2 years in industrial environment with relevant design experience.
• Fluent Italian and English, written and spoken.
• Ability to work in a matrix organization and handle pressure.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical cables in detail per customer request and standards.
• Generate BOM and manufacturing routing for cables.
• Update cost lists for stock items used by Sales.
• Create project rules for different cable families.
• Prepare technical data packs (datasheet, bid sheets, deviations).
• Collaborate with product development for prototypes.
• Support manufacturing transfer between plants.
• Perform base electrical calculations (ampacity, capacitance).
• Visit customers to understand application and market needs.
