Prysmian in Milan is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge machinery used in the production of power and telecommunications cables. You will participate in the full project lifecycle from concept to commissioning, in an international environment across sites worldwide.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering – Power Electronics and 5–7 years of relevant experience, strong English, and willingness to travel.

Within our Investment & Engineering team, part of Operations, we are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to the design and development of cutting‑edge machinery used in the production of power and telecommunications cables.

In this role, you will play a key part throughout the entire lifecycle of industrial projects—from concept and design to installation, commissioning, and production start‑up—working in an international environment and collaborating with teams across the globe.

What You'll Do
  • Define electrical specifications for machinery and equipment used in cable manufacturing processes.
  • Design and develop solutions involving electrical systems, automation, power electronics, drives, and control systems.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers for electrical panels and automation solutions.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and start‑up of equipment in Prysmian plants worldwide.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical excellence, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying innovative and robust engineering solutions.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a passionate engineer who is eager to build a long‑term technical career within a global industrial leader.

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering – Power Electronics
  • At least five to seven years of professional experience in a technical role (technology or manufacturing), preferably in the Industrial sector. Training will be provided if necessary. Similar role does not mean an experience in a Company manufacturing cables ; similar role mean an experience in process automation whatever has been the final product of the Company of the previous activity.
  • English Proficiency
  • Good communication, negotiation and team working skills. Ability to understand the context of the work environment
  • Management of inter‑departmental and multicultural relations, given the number of countries and plants of Prysmian
  • Ability to identify potential problems, either technical or procedural, propose solutions and involve other colleagues in developing these solutions when necessary
  • Availability to travel

  • Type of contract: Permanent Full time
  • Location: Milan
  • Applicable Collective Agreement: CCNL Gomma, Plastica, Cavi elettrici e affini.
  • Job Level/Category in line with the applicable collective agreement.
  • Gross annual salary no less than: € 45.000
  • The position is eligible for an individual or collective variable incentive based on the achievement of predetermined performance objectives
