Job summary

Hitachi Rail S.p.A. in Naples, Campania, Italy, seeks a Project Engineer to lead engineering activities across bid and execution phases, coordinating multi-discipline teams and ensuring compliance with requirements, budgets and schedules.

Based in Italy, you will prepare system documentation, support verification and validation, and liaise with customers and suppliers to deliver high-quality rail projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in railway or complex industrial environments.
• Familiarity with main railway regulations and standards.
• Proficiency in IBM DOORS requirements management.
• Knowledge of system engineering and RAMS principles.
• Awareness of design verification and validation methods.
• Understanding of vehicle architectures and related functions.
• Proficiency in electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering.
• Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to coordinate multiple engineering teams across projects.
• Ability to work in an international, multicultural setting.
• Excellent organizational, teamwork and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate engineering activities across bid and delivery.
• Lead multi-discipline teams to meet inputs, regulations, budget and schedule.
• Prepare technical proposals, engineering plans and design reviews.
• Maintain Product Data Sheet during bid phase for cost consolidation.
• Ensure System Requirements Specifications for supplier engagement.
• Manage Requirements Traceability Matrix with verification evidence.
• Act as primary technical interface with customers and document delivery.
• Conduct internal and customer design reviews.
• Monitor progress, risks and opportunities; escalate as needed.
• Collaborate with Project Management, Procurement, Manufacturing and QA to ensure successful delivery.
• Oversee testing, certification strategy and vehicle homologation documentation.
• Ensure proper configuration management and change handling throughout lifecycle.
