Job summary

Hitachi Energy Italy S.p.A. is seeking a senior modelling engineer to join the R&D team in Genoa or Milan.

You will focus on modelling Hitachi Energy PCS product portfolio, power electronics converters, and automation logics, integrating models into control systems and simulation tools. The ideal candidate holds a Master in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (PhD a plus), 5+ years of experience, strong Matlab/Simulink, DIgSILENT, PSCAD, PSS/E, and Python.

Qualifications

Master degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with focus on Power System stability and Power Electronics.
PhD in renewable energy grid integration is a plus.
Minimum 5 years of experience in modelling Power Systems and Power Electronics using industry tools.
Excellent knowledge of Power System, Power Electronics and Control system modelling tools.
Experience in Grid Impact Studies is a plus.
Fluency in English (spoken and written).
Willingness to travel globally (10–20%).

Responsibilities

Model the PCS product portfolio including power electronics converters and control logics.
Develop, integrate and validate models into automation control logics and simulation environments.
Collaborate with Product Management, external consultants, and internal customers worldwide.
Produce documentation, manage version tracking and ensure quality checks.
Provide training and support to PCS colleagues and customers.
