IMA Group is seeking a PLC Software Designer - On Field to design, develop, and test software for automation machines across global sites. The role involves significant field work, on-site commissioning, and collaboration with hardware and mechanical teams.

You will contribute to FAT testing with customers, diagnose post-installation issues, and travel nationally and internationally up to ~100 days per year. A degree in automation or related field is required.

For IMA BFB, we are looking for a PLC Software Designer - On Field.

IMA BFB specializes in the design and manufacturing of end-of-line packaging machines.

The Role

• Design, develop, and test software for the control of automatic machines using PLC systems;
• Develop software for functions, modules, and machines based on assigned specifications;
• Prepare project, functional, and testing specifications in collaboration with the Hardware and Mechanical Engineering departments;
• Support production during machine start-up and testing activities, and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) with customers;
• Diagnose and resolve post-installation issues and technical problems;
• Activity breakdown: 20% software development, 40% workshop testing and commissioning, 40% on-site commissioning and testing at customer premises.

Experience & Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent qualifications;
• Good command of the English language;
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally for approximately 100 days per year.

What Will Set You Apart

• 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the industrial automation sector;
• Technical expertise in software programming for Motion Control platforms;
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with a customer-oriented mindset and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams;
• Knowledge of the following programming platforms and languages: Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal) and Schneider Electric systems.

Compensation Package

The starting gross annual salary (RAL) will be €36,000, in accordance with the Italian National Collective Labor Agreement (CCNL) for the Metalworking Industry. The compensation may be increased based on the candidate’s experience and skills, in line with objective and gender-neutral evaluation criteria.
