Job summary

IC Resources searches for a Photonics Packaging Engineer to support the development and integration of photonic integrated circuits, taking devices from prototypes toward production-ready modules. The role is onsite in Milan, joining a growing photonics team.

You will gain hands-on experience in packaging, optical coupling, fibre alignment, assembly processes and device testing as part of a multidisciplinary R&D effort.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in photonics, optical or electronic engineering, or materials science.
• Hands-on photonics engineering experience or related field.
• Understanding of optical coupling and fibre alignment techniques.
• Experience with photonic assembly or packaging technologies.
• Basic knowledge of electrical interfaces or RF/optoelectronic integration.
• Experience with laboratory testing and optical characterisation.
• Collaborative, problem-solving mindset within multidisciplinary teams.
• Exposure to reliability testing or environmental qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support packaging and integration of photonic integrated circuits from prototype to product testing.
• Assist with optical coupling, fibre alignment, attachment and bonding processes.
• Help develop and improve assembly and packaging processes for manufacturability.
• Carry out optical characterisation and basic failure analysis of packaged devices.
• Analyse results and support improvements to package performance and yield.
• Collaborate with photonics, electronics and R&D teams to integrate packaging requirements.
