Saipem, a global leader in energy and infrastructure, seeks an Onshore Structure Engineer in Milan. You will design steel structures, coordinate 3D modeling, and drive the definition of BOQs and material qualification.

Expect close collaboration with clients, discipline teams, and procurement across projects. Requirement includes a civil engineering degree, at least 5 years in the energy sector, and English at B2 level.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (any); Master Degree Structural would be a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in possibly in Energy industry.
• Proficient in English at B2 level.

Mansioni

• Support the Operational/Discipline Leader in applying and updating standards, procedures, and work instructions; define steelwork scope and schedules.
• Monitor and coordinate discipline activities, manage interfaces, and ensure alignment with contract requirements, schedule and budget.
• Interface with Client and Vendors on technical matters affecting schedule and costs; support communication with Client.
• Design steel structures and ensure alignment between 3D model, calculations, and drawings; prepare BOQs and MTOs; support procurement.

Purpose of the position: As Onshore Structure Engineer, you will respond to the Operational Leader and to the Head of Department and be part of the Energy Carriers Business line.

How can you support us? Here below your responsibilities:

• 1 Support the Operational/Discipline Leader in ensuring the correct application and continuous update of company and discipline standards, procedures, and work instructions. Define the full scope of steelwork activities and deliverables; establish schedules in coordination with the Discipline Leader and ensure alignment with contractual requirements.
• 2 Monitor and coordinate discipline activities (internal and external), ensuring consistency with contract requirements, adherence to schedule and budget, and quality of deliverables; track and report scope changes, updating quantities, manhours, and cost estimates. Manage interfaces with other disciplines and coordinate all engineering activities within and outside the company, ensuring full integration (including 3D modeling) and consistency across deliverables.
• 3 Interface with Client representatives and Vendors on all technical matters impacting project schedule and costs; support the Discipline Leader in managing technical communication with the Client.
• 4 Ensure the design of steel structures (industrial buildings, pipe racks, warehouses, etc.) in accordance with Discipline Leader guidance and multidisciplinary inputs; ensure alignment between structural calculations, 3D model and drawing extraction. Prepare detailed BOQs and maintain updated MTOs to prevent or mitigate quantity escalation; issue technical specifications for steelwork materials and support Procurement throughout the material requisition cycle (issue, bid technical evaluation, vendor qualification, lot definition, and supply follow-up).
• 5 Monitor steelwork manufacturers (including approval of shop drawings and delivery schedule control); provide technical support to Procurement, Construction, and site activities, including field engineering, site modifications, and punch list closure.

What are we looking for?

Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (any); Master Degree Structural would be a plus

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in possibly in Energy industry

Languages: Proficient in English B2

Technical/IT Skills

• Proficiency in coordinating structural 3D modeling and drawing extraction, ensuring consistency with structural calculations, as well as preparing detailed BOQs and maintaining accurate MTOs for quantity control and cost monitoring.
• Solid experience in preparing technical specifications for steelwork materials, supporting bid technical evaluations, vendor qualification, material requisitions, shop drawing review, and follow-up of fabrication and delivery activities.
• Strong technical coordination skills in managing interfaces with other engineering disciplines, subcontractors, clients, vendors, procurement, construction, and field engineering, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

IT Skills

• Advanced familiarity with the Microsoft Office package.
• Advanced knowledge of software and tools for structural modelling (TEKLA Structures)
• Advanced knowledge of software and tools for 3D model coordination (Navisworks, ACC)
• Advanced proficiency in CAD and structural engineering tools (e.g., AutoCAD, BRICS Cad, MicroStation)

What else should you know? You will have the opportunity to travel abroad based on the projects you will work for and within the [project/vessel/yard,etc] assigned.
