Job summary

Avio Aero, a GE Aerospace company, is seeking an SMS Risk Focal on Site to manage hazards, support cross-functional teams, and strengthen the Safety Management System. You will lead investigations, maintain hazard records, and coordinate mitigations while aligning with FLIGHT DECK standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a technical discipline.
• Experience in aerospace/defense in engineering, manufacturing, product quality, safety or QMS.
• Knowledge of aviation regulations and standards.
• Knowledge of problem-solving and LEAN methodologies.
• Strong inspection and investigation capability.
• Knowledge of management systems and compliance monitoring.
• Understanding of risk analysis, SMS and Human Factors.
• Fluent Italian and English.
• Work visa in accordance with local regulation is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and update the hazard log and SAT records.
• Coordinate cross-functional hazard read-across across processes, products, and organizations.
• Lead preliminary investigations gathering data, facts, and supporting evidence.
• Review reports, inputs, and operational signals related to safety hazards.
• Evaluate incoming information and record hazards with classification and traceability.
• Present hazard cases to the Safety Action Team (SAT) for risk assessment.
• Coordinate, track, and monitor risk mitigation actions, including escalation.
• Apply FLIGHT DECK standards in daily management and routines.
• Support the SMS team with trend analysis, safety metrics, and audits.
• Participate in daily shop-floor rhythms to foster collaboration.
