Job summary

Saipem is seeking a Process Engineer to join the ENCAR – Energy Carriers line in Italy. The role involves design criteria, PFDs/P&IDs, equipment and instrument sizing, and support for HAZID/HAZOP reviews. Travel within EMEA/Worldwide is possible.

Requirements include a Master’s or Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering and 1–2 years’ upstream O&G experience, with fluency in Italian and English. Hybrid work model in Fano, Italy with a permanent contract.

Purpose of the position:

As Process Engineer you will be part of the ENCAR – Energy Carriers business line.

How can you support us?

• Preparation of Process Design Criteria, Design Basis, and operating philosophies
• Process simulations and preparation of Heat & Material Balances (H&M B)
• Development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Equipment sizing, calculations, and preparation of process datasheets
• Instrument sizing, calculations, and preparation of instrument datasheets
• Development of Cause & Effect (C&E) Matrices and Emergency Shutdown (ESD) Philosophy
• Relief load calculations and PSV sizing
• Flare and blowdown system design
• Line sizing and hydraulic calculations
• Utility summaries and process input to utilities design
• Support to HAZID / HAZOP studies and design reviews
• Technical support during vendor documentation review and TBEs
• Interface management and coordination with other disciplines and licensors

What are we looking for?

Education:

Master's Degree/bachelor’s degree in: Chemical Engineer or similar

Background:

1-2 years as a Process Engineer within Upstream O&G Project (onshore)

Languages:

Italian, English

Technical/IT Knowledge

• Development of Heat & Material Balances.
• Preparation and review of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Basic experience in process equipment and instrumentation sizing.
• Support to process calculations (hydraulics, line sizing, utilities).
• Familiarity with Upstream facilities (gas treatment, compression, production, utilities) is considered a plus.
• Participation in multidisciplinary reviews (e.g. P&ID reviews, HAZOPs) under supervision.
• Process simulation tools: Aspen HYSYS (or equivalent).
• Engineering tools: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

What else should you know?

Some travelling will be expected within EMEA, Africa, Worldwide, etc
