Job summary

Saipem seeks a Technical Safety Engineer to support the Head of Technical Safety & Environment on ENCAR, contributing to process safety, risk analyses and RAM during the project engineering phase.

The candidate should hold a Master’s or Bachelor’s in a technical discipline, with at least 5 years in oil & gas, and proficient Italian (C1) and English (B2). Familiarity with PHAST/SAFETI and tools like exSILentia, PHApro, FLACS, Flaresim is a plus.

  • Minimum 5 years' proven Oil & Gas safety experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Technical Safety & Environment on ENCAR.

  • Conduct RAM studies and safety evaluations for engineering phase.
  • Interface with clients and project partners on technical safety issues.
  • Evaluate suppliers and bids for technical safety activities.

As Technical Safety Engineer, you will respond to the Head of technical safety & environment of the ENCAR. You will support and cooperate with the Project Technical Safety Lead in the execution of the project activities, especially during the engineering phase of the project, in process safety, loss prevention or risk analysis, safety studies and RAM.

How can you support us? Here below your responsibilities:

Process Safety, i.e.

  • Hazid, Hazop analysis and related follow up process
  • Functional Safety Lifecycle (SIL allocation, calculation, SRS, Verification)
  • Project Technical Integrity Lifecycle
  • Passive Fire Protection including cold spill/splash (PFP&SCP)
  • Fire and Gas Detection (including F&G Mapping Studies)
  • Escape Routes, and safety equipment

Risk Analysis, Safety studies and RAM, i.e.

  • Risk analysis such as Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), Fire & Explosion (& Dispersion) Risk Assessment (FERA), Cryogenic Risk Assessment (CRA), Explosion Risk Assessment (ERA), CFD modelling and Dropped Object Risk Assessment (DORA)
  • Safety studies such as Escape, Evacuation and Rescue Analysis (EERA), Emergency Systems Survivability Analysis (ESSA), Temporary Refuge Impairment Analysis (TRIA) – for offshore plant, Smoke and Gas Ingress Analysis (SGIA), Pressure Vessels Survivability Analysis (PVSA)
  • Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) analysis
  • Interface with Clients and other Project Partner on technical issues
  • Evaluate and manage suppliers and sub-contractor bids involved in the Technical Safety activities

What are we looking for?

Education: Master's or Bachelor's degree in technical disciplines

Experience: Minimum of 5 years' proven experience within the Oil & Gas Industry, ideally both for onshore and offshore fields, in the same or similar positions with International Main Contracting & Engineering Companies or Consultancy Companies on Technical Safety matters.

Languages: Italian (minimum C1), English (minimum B2). Proficiency on additional foreign language is a plus.

Technical/IT Skills:

Familiarity with software tools relevant to Technical Safety in one or more of the above-described technical areas e.g. exSILentia, PHApro, FLACS, Flaresim,…; in particular, the knowledge of tools for Risk Analysis and Safety studies such as PHAST, SAFETI is considered a plus.
