Descrizione del lavoro

Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on Network / IT Engineer to support on-site hardware deployment activities across designated sites. While the role does not require advanced networking configuration or network engineering, we are specifically seeking engineers with a network engineering background and strong practical installation experience who are comfortable working with IT hardware, mounting equipment, peripherals, cabling, device connectivity, testing, and site handover. The engineer will be responsible for receiving equipment deliveries, carrying out the physical installation and commissioning of hardware in accordance with the site-specific BOM, validating functionality, troubleshooting installation-related issues, documenting completed works, and handing over the completed installation to the site representative.

Scope of Work

The Engineer will be responsible for carrying out on-site hardware deployment activities, including accepting and receiving the delivery of equipment at the designated site, decommissioning existing mount and timeclock devices, installing and mounting timeclock devices and associated peripherals, installing thin clients/kiosks and peripherals, and installing the hardware specified in the site-specific BOM. The Engineer will perform hardware functionality validation and testing, provide on-site assistance with plugin installation troubleshooting and testing on Amazon laptops, and assist with badge printing where required. Upon completion of the installation, the Engineer will hand over the completed work to the assigned site manager or point of contact and provide the necessary operational knowledge or training. The Engineer will document the work completed at each site and record any installation-related issues, including faulty, missing, or incomplete hardware requiring remediation. Where necessary, the Engineer may be required to revisit the site to rectify unsuccessful or incomplete installation activities. The Engineer must hold a valid driving licence and be able to drive as required for the delivery, transportation, or deployment of equipment between designated locations. All activities must be completed in accordance with the applicable work standards and site requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and accept delivery of hardware and equipment at the designated site.
  • Verify delivered equipment against the provided BOM and identify any missing, damaged, or faulty items.
  • Decommission existing mount and timeclock devices where required.
  • Install and mount timeclock devices and associated peripherals.
  • Install thin clients/kiosks, monitors, keyboards, mice, and associated peripherals.
  • Install tablets and associated wall mounts.
  • Install PoE splitters, USB docks, badge readers, Safetrust modules, JSON readers, and other equipment specified in the site BOM.
  • Carry out physical connections and ensure equipment is installed securely and correctly.
  • Perform hardware power-on, functionality checks, and basic testing of installed equipment.
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting support for installation-related issues and plugin installation/testing on Amazon laptops.
  • Assist with badge reader and badge printing functionality where required.
  • Identify and report missing, damaged, faulty, or incorrectly supplied equipment.
  • Provide basic operational guidance and handover to the assigned site manager or point of contact.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and document any outstanding issues.
  • Carry out remedial works or return visits where required to complete or correct the installation.
  • Transport equipment between designated locations where required as part of the deployment activities.
  • Follow all applicable site, health and safety, and customer work standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience working as a Network Engineer, IT Infrastructure Engineer, Field Engineer, or similar hands-on technical role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with physical IT hardware installation and deployment.
  • Experience installing and mounting IT devices, peripherals, kiosks, tablets, monitors, badge readers, and similar equipment.
  • Practical experience with PoE equipment, USB docks, device peripherals, and basic connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience working from a Bill of Materials (BOM) and validating equipment against installation requirements.
  • Experience working on customer sites, data centres, offices, warehouses, or other commercial/industrial environments.
  • Good understanding of structured hardware installation practices and safe handling of IT equipment.
  • Basic networking knowledge is advantageous, although network configuration is not a core requirement of the role.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues methodically.
  • Good documentation and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently on-site and interact professionally with customer/site representatives.
  • Willingness to travel between designated sites when required.
  • Valid driving licence and ability to drive for work-related activities.
  • Comfortable working with tools and carrying out physical installation activities.
  • Relevant technical qualification or certification in IT, networking, telecommunications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate in Italian (B1) and English.
Important – Role Focus

This is primarily a hands-on deployment and installation role, rather than a network configuration role. Network engineering experience is preferred because it demonstrates the candidate's familiarity with IT infrastructure and technical environments, but the primary selection criteria should be practical installation capability, hardware handling, troubleshooting, and experience deploying equipment similar to the site BOM. The SOW specifically identifies these hardware deployment activities, including installation, validation, troubleshooting, badge support, handover, and remediation.
