Job summary

Tenova, a Techint Group company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Pomini Team. The role involves leading BOM management, cost/time control, and the detailed design of machine tool prototypes in a diverse, international setting.

Ideal candidates hold a Mechanical Engineering degree with machine design or aerospace focus, strong CAD skills (Inventor, AutoCAD), PLM familiarity, and SAP knowledge. Hybrid/work policies apply; Castellanza, Italy position with global site visits.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Machine Design or Aerospace focus.
• Thesis on machine tool design preferred.
• Experience with 3D/2D CAD tools (Inventor, AutoCAD).

Responsibilities

• Autonomous management of BOMs and custom parts for customer projects.
• Manage time, cost, and design aspects of jobs.
• Conduct basic to detailed design of machine tool prototypes and installations.
• Review machine designs with Structural and Safety engineers.
• Coordinate with external engineering firms for detailed design and review their outputs.
• Engage in quotations assessments and cross-department collaboration.
• Communicate technically with customers and visit sites in Italy and abroad.

Your role in Tenova: Mechanical Engineer

Description:

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer willing to join our Pomini Team, with a strong passion for technology and motivation to work in a multicultural and international environment characterized by high technological complexity.

Key Responsibilities

• Autonomous management of the bill of materials of jobs and of the special parts to be designed upon request of customers
• Management of time and cost aspects of the jobs
• Basic and detailed design of machine tool prototypes and new applications
• Basic and detailed design of infrastructures for machines installation (typically: civil works, piping)
• Review of the design of the machines with the Structural Engineers and the Safety Engineers
• Interface with external engineering firms for detailed design
• Review of the work produced by external engineering firms
• Assessments for quotations
• Management of relations with other corporate departments, in particular Planning, Purchasing and Production
• Technical communication with customers
• Meetings with customers in Italy and abroad
• Visits to erection sites in Italy and abroad to verify progress and for troubleshooting activities
• Visits to Suppliers in Italy and abroad

What we ask for

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Machine Design address or in Aerospace Engineering with Structural address will be preferred
• Degree with a thesis focused on a theme inherent to the design of machine tools (preferable)
• In-depth knowledge of one or more 3D drawing tools. Specifically, Inventor Professional (Autodesk)
• In-depth knowledge of one or more 2D drawing tools. In particular, Autocad (Autodesk)
• Familiarity with the concept of Product Life Management (PLM)
• Knowledge of SAP is welcome
• In-depth knowledge of the design of the mechanisms and structures of machine tools, as well as of the related technologies
• Knowledge of the calculation and sizing procedures of the machine parts.
• Knowledge of the design and operative sides of the production of the components for machine tool and of their assembly to the complete machine
• Significant experience in a technical department of a company in the machine tool business, so that, after an adequate period of integration, he/she is able to perform the above-mentioned tasks autonomously.

For the position, the starting gross annual salary will be from € 37.000, with the final offer determined based on the candidate’s seniority, experience, and skills, as well as the outcome of the selection process.
