Job summary

ABB is seeking a Material Planner to ensure material availability for production while optimizing inventory and supply chain performance. The role reports to the Planning & Fulfillment Manager, with a hybrid work model and responsibilities spanning MRP execution, schedule adherence, and supplier collaboration.

You will contribute to inventory policy setting, ABC/XYZ segmentation, and supporting procurement to achieve working capital targets.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in material planning, production planning, or similar roles in a manufacturing environment.
• Good knowledge of SAP ERP systems is preferred.
• Strong Excel skills including Pivot Tables and Macros; Power BI knowledge is a plus.
• Fluent in Italian and English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Execute daily plant-level Material Requirements Planning (MRP) activities to create and manage material and production requirements in line with manufacturing schedules.
• Monitor schedule adherence, expedite materials as needed, identify root causes of deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Manage MRP exception messages and support cycle counting and annual inventory activities.
• Ensure materials are available at the right time to support uninterrupted production operations.
• Support the Planning & Fulfillment team in aligning material availability with production targets.
• Collaborate with Procurement to improve supplier on-time delivery, lead times, MOQ and responsiveness.
• Prepare and analyze inventory and supply chain performance reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Monitoring schedule adherence, proactively expediting materials, identifying root causes of deviations, and implementing corrective actions. Managing MRP exception messages and supporting cycle counting and annual inventory activities.Ensuring the right materials are available at the right time to support uninterrupted production operations, maintaining a smooth and efficient flow of materials throughout the factory.Supporting the Planning & Fulfillment team in aligning material availability with production targets. Taking ownership of inventory profiles by helping in the segmentation of the materials portfolio through ABC/XYZ analysis, supporting product lifecycle management, and defining inventory policies, based on material characteristics and business needs.Collaborating closely with the Procurement team, to improve supplier performance in terms of on-time delivery, flexibility, responsiveness, minimum order quantities (MOQ), and lead times.Supporting the achievement of inventory and working capital targets, while ensuring adequate replenishment through effective purchase order management and supply planning activities.Preparing and analyzing inventory and supply chain performance reports, providing insights and recommendations to support decision-making, and continuous improvement initiatives.Qualifications for the roleAcademic background or professional experience in Materials Planning, Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management, Operations, or related fields.2-3 years of experience in material planning, production planning, supply chain, or similar roles within a manufacturing environment is preferred.Good knowledge of SAP ERP systems is preferred.Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Macros for data analysis; Power BI knowledge is a plus.Strong sense of ownership, analytical mindset, problem-solving attitude, and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing continuous improvement.Team player with effective communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of collaborating across functions.Fluent in Italian and English, both written and spoken.Compensation PackageAs part of our commitment to transparency, we want to share the compensation details for this position:Applicable CBA: MetalmeccanicoMinimum annual salary: € 36.000,00Variable Pay: Eligible for Company Productivity BonusThe offer will be tailored based on your role location, experience, skills and qualifications, internal market positioning and alignment with ABB internal standards.Benefits as per policyFlexible working hours, hybrid work options, and a strong focus on work-life integration and Wellbeing support for employees and their families.
